Although the exact level of cover available differs between policies, Dodo Travel Insurance offers the following cover features to policyholders:

  • Cancellation and amendment fees. This benefit covers prepaid travel, accommodation, tour, activity and visa expenses that you are unable to recover when you are forced to cancel your trip due to unexpected circumstances.
  • Overseas medical and hospital fees. If you’re injured, become sick or die during your trip, you’ll be covered for the cost of emergency medical, surgical and hospital treatment as well as ambulance transportation.
  • Hospital cash allowance. This benefit pays a daily allowance of up to $75 for every day you are hospitalised due to an accident or illness while you are overseas.
  • Cutting your trip short. This benefit provides cover if you need to return home to Australia earlier than planned, for example due to medical advice or following the death of a relative.
  • Additional expenses. This benefit offers financial protection when you need to return home earlier than expected.
  • Resumption of journey. Available on Comprehensive Plus and Annual Multi-Trip Cover, this benefit covers the cost of the airfare to resume your trip following an event covered under the “cutting your trip short” benefit.
  • Travel delay expenses. Covers you if your final departure from or to Australia is delayed by poor weather, a strike, industrial action or mechanical breakdown.
  • Luggage and personal effects. Covers you when your luggage or personal belongings are stolen, lost or damaged during your journey.
  • Delayed luggage allowance. If an airline or other transport provider is responsible for a luggage delay of more than 24 hours, you’ll receive an emergency benefit to help your purchase clothing and toiletry items.
  • Travel documents, credit cards and travellers cheques. If your passport, traveller’s cheques, visas or credit cards are lost, stolen or damaged during your journey you’re covered for the cost of their replacement.
  • Theft of cash. This provides cover for lost or stolen personal money.
  • Personal accident. Depending on the level of cover you select, a lump sum benefit may be payable for any of the following:

  • Loss of income. Available on Comprehensive Plus and Annual Multi-Trip Cover, this benefit covers loss of income if you are disabled due to an injury suffered on your trip and are unable to return to work.
  • Alternative transport expenses. If your prepaid transport is cancelled, delayed or diverted and you need to get to a special event, such as a wedding or conference, Dodo Travel Insurance covers the additional travel expenses you incur to arrive on time.

Additional options available

  • Additional specified items cover. Only available on the Comprehensive Plus and Annual Multi-Trip policies, this option allows you to pay an additional premium to increase the maximum level of cover for your personal belongings up to $4,000 per item (provided that the combined total of your specified items does not exceed $6,000).
  • Snow Sport Cover. This upgrade option is available on all Dodo Travel Insurance policies. It covers medical evacuation from overseas ski slopes and covers an extensive list of winter sports activities. You’re covered if your snow sports equipment is lost, stolen or damaged. Any hired equipment is also covered. Other features of this option include ski pack cover, lift hire cover, avalanche cover and piste closure cover.
  • Reducing your excess. By paying an additional premium, you are able to reduce or even eliminate the excess you will otherwise need to pay when making a claim.

      Hi Carmel,

Thanks for your question. finder.com.au is a comparison service and not an insurer. There are various conditions that are either covered or not covered by the Dodo travel insurance policy. You should review the relevant PDS for a list of these conditions.

      All the best,
      Richard
