A travel ban is in place for all Australians effective 25 March 2020. Most travel insurance brands will not cover you if you travel against a government warning. If you already have a policy, please contact your insurer directly for more information. We are currently updating our site to reflect the Australian government’s advice. Some travel insurance policies will be temporarily unavailable.
The Insure4Less travel insurance policies are underwritten by Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, a global company with nearly $300 billion in declared assets.

Cancellation fees and lost deposits. If you suffer an illness or injury and can't travel, or your trip has to be cancelled due to jury duty or pregnancy, you may be refunded some of the costs that cancellation incurs.
Overseas medical expenses. Being sick overseas can be a nightmare. Insure4Less may pay any medical or hospital bills you get overseas as the result of medically necessary treatment.
Personal liability. If you hurt someone accidentally while overseas, or cause damage to others' property, you may be liable to pay compensation. Personal liability can help to cover these potentially hefty costs.
Baggage and personal effects. Your luggage may end up getting lost, damaged, or stolen while you're on your trip through no fault of your own. In this situation, or where your luggage ends up delayed more than 24 hours, Insure4Less might pay for the replacement or repair of lost or damaged items.
Travel delay. If you were planning to take public transport on your trip and it gets delayed by 12 hours, you could be reimbursed. After 36 hours of delay, you are covered under the cancellation fee cover, instead.
Car rental excess waiver. In case of an accident or damage to a rental car, you are liable to pay an excess to the rental company. Insure4Less may pay this excess or the repair costs for the vehicle.
Catastrophe cover. Out of the blue, a natural disaster, lightning strike or a local epidemic render your pre-booked accommodation uninhabitable. This is where catastrophe cover can kick in.
What options can I add-on to my Insure4Less travel insurance?
When purchasing any of the insurance plans from Insure4Less, you have the chance of choosing Single Trip or Annual Multi-trip at purchase. With Annual Multi-trip, you can extend your cover over multiple trips starting and ending at your home in Australia. Other add-on options include;
Snow sports. Cover if you plan to participate in skiing, snowboarding, back country skiing/snowboarding, snowcat skiing/snowboarding, cross country skiing, glacier skiing, glacier walking, snow monoskiing and snowblading. Off-piste cover can also be added onto most policies except for the USA and Canada.
Rock climbing, trekking or mountaineering. You can get cover depending on your level of experience. Insure4less will ask for a few details about your trekking trip and determine the right premium. Cover for mountaineering is not available in the USA and Canada. No cover is available in Nepal for rock climbing, trekking or mountaineering.
What isn't covered by my policy?
Regardless of the insurance policy purchased, there are situations where you will never be covered by Insure4Less. These include claims where:
You have continued with travel plans to a country or region despite warnings from the Australian Government at www.smarttraveller.org.au
You are travelling on an aircraft that is anything other than a completely licensed passenger aircraft.
It's at all related to anxiety, stress or mental illness of you or your travelling companions, or to a pre-existing medical condition not pre-approved by Insure4Less before purchasing insurance.
You are under the influence of unprescribed drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.
You have taken part in any sport or leisure activity that isn't approved by Insure4Less.
You've engaged in any illegal or criminal activities.
For any reason you've done manual labour or work in conjunction with a profession or trade during your trip.

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We compare from a wide set of banks, insurers and product issuers. We value our editorial independence and follow editorial guidelines.
finder.com.au has access to track details from the product issuers listed on our sites. Although we provide information on the products offered by a wide range of issuers, we don't cover every available product or service.
Please note that the information published on our site should not be construed as personal advice and does not consider your personal needs and circumstances. While our site will provide you with factual information and general advice to help you make better decisions, it isn't a substitute for professional advice. You should consider whether the products or services featured on our site are appropriate for your needs. If you're unsure about anything, seek professional advice before you apply for any product or commit to any plan.
Products marked as 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money here.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
Providing or obtaining an estimated insurance quote through us does not guarantee you can get the insurance. Acceptance by insurance companies is based on things like occupation, health and lifestyle. By providing you with the ability to apply for a credit card or loan, we are not guaranteeing that your application will be approved. Your application for credit products is subject to the Provider's terms and conditions as well as their application and lending criteria.
