Back to topHow to make a Real Travel Insurance claim
Emergency assistance for Real Travel Insurance policyholders is offered by MAPFRE Assistance, a leading international assistance network. You can contact MAPFRE 24 hours a day, with operators on hand to help you make a claim.
If you need to make a claim, you’ll need to notify the insurer as soon as possible. You’ll be asked to complete, sign and return a claim form with details of the incident and the loss you suffered. If you fail to do so, Real Travel Insurance will not be able to process your claim, plus they can reduce your claim if you delay in returning your form.
Real Travel Insurance will ask for certain information to support your claim, all of which you will need to provide at your own expense. This may include police reports, medical reports, valuation, original receipts or proof of ownership. In some cases you will also have to provide translations of these documents into English.
It’s your duty to supply and documentation or information your insurer needs to process your claim. With this in mind, it’s important to remember to obtain medical reports whenever possible, or report theft to the local police and get a written copy of any report.
You’ll need to submit full details of your claim in writing within 30 days of returning from your trip. Lodging a claim will require you to pay an excess (unless you’ve selected an option to waive your excess), and claims will be processed within 10 business days.
