St George travel insurance is tailored to cover unforeseen events and accidents while on holiday. The travel insurance plans also provide additional cover for the following:

  • Car hire insurance excess. As long as you’re a licensed driver and can show that you hired the rental from a registered car hire company, St George travel insurance will cover up to $3,000 (on the Super Plus Plan) of insurance excess. If you are unable to return the hired car to the rental company, the insurance plan will cover the cost up to $500.
  • Hijacking and mugging. If you’re a victim of hijacking or mugging during your travels, you’ll be covered for the time you spend as a detainee and/or in hospital.
  • Pre-existing medical conditions. If your illness or condition is not automatically covered by the travel insurance policy, you can purchase additional cover to provide for unforeseen events arising from pre-existing medical conditions.

St George Travel Insurance Pre-existing medical conditions

If you or anyone insured on your travel plan suffers from a pre-existing medical or dental condition, that condition is not automatically covered by St George travel insurance. The same is true for any complications arising from this pre-existing medical condition.

Some conditions like asthma, epilepsy and pregnancy up to 24 weeks are automatically covered, but if your illness or condition is not covered, you’ll have to pay an additional premium to have it included in the insurance contract.

Making St George travel insurance claims

  • Get in touch quickly. In the event of an accident or lost or stolen property, getting in touch with your insurance agent will ensure prompt assistance – as long as your information is correct and up to date. The local and international hotlines are operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Provide all relevant documentation. The documents required differ according to the nature of your claim. You’ll most likely be asked to submit:
    Police reports
Medical reports and letters from doctors
    Original receipts
Evidence of ownership like photographs and proof of purchase
  • Be honest and cooperative. The more truthful and complete the information you provide, the speedier the claims process. False or incomplete statements will lead to unnecessary delays and the cancellation of your policy in the case of a fraudulent claim.
