There are several exclusions that apply to your 1300 travel insurance which would result in your claim not being paid.
Exclusions include:
General Exclusions
Claims will not be paid if the claim is the result of:
- Loss of luggage where the policyholder did not protect their property or did not take reasonable measures to reduce the loss
- Any loss recoverable by compensation under worker’s compensation laws, travel accident laws, medical benefit schemes or similar legislation
- Illegal acts
- Failure to obtain relevant travel documents
- Errors and omissions while making travel arrangements
- Epidemics
- Pandemics
- Failure to follow government travel advisories regarding riots, bad weather, contagious diseases and other similar events.
Medical exclusions
Your claim will not be paid if it arises from:
- Pre-existing medical condition
- Travel undertaken against the advice of a medical practitioner or injury resulting from a terminal prognosis made prior to your taking up of travel insurance
- Suicide
- Depression
- Pregnancy or any related conditions
- Treatment for drug and alcohol addiction
- Directly or indirectly from a sexually transmitted disease.
How to make a claim with 1300 Insurance
You are required to co-operate with the insurer and inform them of your claim as soon as possible by submitting a claims form to the Client Services Department.
You’ll need to provide supporting evidence for your claim including police reports, medical reports, item valuations and proof of ownership for lost items must accompany your claim form. In addition, you are required to submit all the details of your claim in writing within 30 days of returning to Australia.
Dental, medical and hospital claims should be made with Allianz Global Assistance, while any loss or theft of personal belongings should be reported to the police so you can obtain a written notice to accompany your claim report.
Damage or loss of personal effects or luggage by an airline or accommodation provider should be reported to said party so they can provide you with a written report to be used in your claim processing.
All claims are paid in Australian dollars.
