A travel ban is in place for all Australians effective 25 March 2020. Most travel insurance brands will not cover you if you travel against a government warning. If you already have a policy, please contact your insurer directly for more information. We are currently updating our site to reflect the Australian government’s advice. Some travel insurance policies will be temporarily unavailable.
Simply Travel travel insurance plans are underwritten by certain underwriters at Lloyd's, which is the world's largest specialist insurance market.

Overseas medical and dental expenses. It isn't pleasant to get sick. It's even worse to get sick when you're far from home and being left with a colossal hospital bill. If you require medical treatment while you're away, Simply Travel Insurance can help with the costs of medical and dental treatment.
Loss of income. If you sustain an injury overseas that leaves you unable to work for more than 30 days after returning home, Simply Travel Insurance may reimburse you for any income lost during this period up to a certain limit.
Credit card fraud and replacement. When you're overseas and somebody defrauds your credit card, you can be protected against financial loss. This cover extends to the replacement of travel documents like passports.
Luggage and personal effects. There's always the possibility that your luggage could get lost, stolen, or accidentally damaged. In this eventuality, Simply Travel Insurance may either replace or repair your lost belongings, up to a certain limit.
Luggage and personal effects delay. When your belongings get held up for more than 12 hours than they were meant to, you can be given a certain allowance to purchase essential items of clothing and other personal effects.
Cancellation fees and lost deposits. Sometimes, things go wrong and plans change. If accommodation or travel plans you'd made don't end up getting used because of circumstances outside your control, you could have some or all of the cost refunded.
Rental vehicle insurance excess. When a borrowed vehicle gets lost or stolen under your care, the rental company may demand you pay an excess. This can cover that cost.
Personal liability. An unfortunate accident while you're out travelling can lead to you owing a bunch of compensation money to a third party. This feature can help save you the headache - and the expense.
Review of policies by Simply Travel Insurance
You have a choice of four different policies when you buy from Simply Travel Insurance. Their major features are detailed here.
Contains all of Simply Travel's top features. Unlimited medical cover, increased lost luggage protection, cancellation cover for flexibility and other important features like personal liability
The basic form of cover for overseas travel. This policy offers only the most basic of protection. Unlimited medical cover, some dental cover, and personal liability.
For travellers under 64 who are planning multiple trips of less than 90 days in a single year. Can be purchased in domestic or international plans
Cover for when you're only travelling through Australia. It keeps costs down by removing less important features like medical expenses.
What options can I add-on to my Simply Travel Insurance?
You can choose to tailor your cover to your needs with add-options. Add-ons will generally raise the cost of your insurance premium. None of the following are available to the Budget plan.
High value items. If you have particularly precious belongings that are less than 12 months old, you can add up to $5,000 of extra cover onto your policy to cover their value.
Cruise pack. This option extends your cover to cruise ships and adds a few cruise-specific types of cover, like missed cruise departures or missed port cover. You won't be covered for any claims on a cruise without this add-on.
Winter sports. This provides a collection of winter sport-specific cover, including piste closure, unlimited emergency rescue costs, bad weather and avalanche closure, and more.
What isn't covered by my policy?
Any policy you purchase will have its own set of situations where your cover isn't valid. Simply Travel Insurance won't pay out your claim if:
You don't act responsibly or do your best to avoid making a claim.
You do something illegal or break a visa requirement.
You're riding in a motorcycle or moped and the driver does not have a valid licence for the country you're in.
You make the decision to travel to a country or region despite warnings from the Australian Government at www.smarttraveller.gov.au or the mass media.
It is tied to a pre-existing medical condition you failed to have approved by Simply Travel before you purchase your policy.
You were acting under the influence of alcohol or any drug that you weren't prescribed.
You travel in any form of air transport other than a licensed passenger aircraft operated by a company.
You engaged in a dangerous or risky activity, including things like polo, quad biking, and hang-gliding.

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We compare from a wide set of banks, insurers and product issuers. We value our editorial independence and follow editorial guidelines.
finder.com.au has access to track details from the product issuers listed on our sites. Although we provide information on the products offered by a wide range of issuers, we don't cover every available product or service.
Please note that the information published on our site should not be construed as personal advice and does not consider your personal needs and circumstances. While our site will provide you with factual information and general advice to help you make better decisions, it isn't a substitute for professional advice. You should consider whether the products or services featured on our site are appropriate for your needs. If you're unsure about anything, seek professional advice before you apply for any product or commit to any plan.
Products marked as 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money here.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
Providing or obtaining an estimated insurance quote through us does not guarantee you can get the insurance. Acceptance by insurance companies is based on things like occupation, health and lifestyle. By providing you with the ability to apply for a credit card or loan, we are not guaranteeing that your application will be approved. Your application for credit products is subject to the Provider's terms and conditions as well as their application and lending criteria.
