Earn 35% more Velocity Points with ANZ Rewards in May

Want to get more out of your rewards? Transfer your ANZ Rewards points to Velocity Points to earn a bonus 35% points this month.

One of the key benefits of an indirect earn frequent flyer credit card is the flexibility to transfer your points to a variety of its partner programs. This month, ANZ is offering you even more value when you transfer your points to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account.

If you transfer your ANZ Rewards to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account before 31 May, you’ll earn 35% bonus Velocity Points. Plus, if you’ve opted in for ANZ’s auto redemption offer, you can earn an additional 5% bonus points when your points are automatically transferred to your chosen frequent flyer account.

Riding a bit of a trend, ANZ’s latest promotion comes at the same time as Velocity’s offer of 15% bonus points when you transfer your credit card points to your Velocity account.

Terms and conditions to remember

    • Earn rate. ANZ Rewards points have a transfer rate of 2 ANZ Rewards per 1 Velocity Points, which is important to remember when calculating how many Velocity points you could earn.
    • Minimum transfer. You have to transfer a minimum of 2,000 ANZ Rewards Points to make a Velocity transfer. You won’t be able to take advantage of this offer if you don’t have that many points in your account.
    • Auto-redemption. If you do opt for auto-redemption to pick up the extra 5%, this means that all ANZ rewards you earn will automatically transfer to your Velocity account. If you consider the flexibility of the indirect earn card a major advantage and think you might want to transfer to other schemes in the future, then auto-redemption might not be for you.
    • Promotion period. The transfer must be made by 11.59pm on 31 May 2016 if you want to take advantage of the bonus points from this promotion.

How many points could I earn?

Say you have 40,000 ANZ Rewards, you could transfer these for 30,000 Velocity Points. If you take advantage of the 35% bonus offer, though, you’d earn an extra 10,500 points, bringing your points balance up to 45,000 points. Plus, if you transfer the points via auto-redemption, you could earn an extra 5% of 1,500 Velocity Points. This will boost your total to 46,500 Velocity Points.

If you’ve racked up 46,500 Velocity Points, you’d have more than enough to take a Business flight from Sydney to Auckland (33,800 Velocity Points). With 28,900 points, you could take an Economy flight to Singapore, leaving you leftover points to build up for your next trip.

You can use the mileage calculator and points tables on the Velocity website to calculate where your bonus points could take you.

If you have ANZ Rewards sitting in your account collecting dust, taking advantage of the bank’s latest offer could be a great way to get more out of your rewards. As long as you’ve met the terms and conditions and transferred your points before the due date, all that’s left to do is figure out where your rewards are going to take you.
