      Hi Brian,

Thank you for reaching out to Finder.

Since Jetstar is owned by Qantas and is closely linked to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program as a result. This means you can earn both Qantas Points and Status Credits when you’re travelling on a Jetstar Starter Plus, Starter Max or Business Max fare. You may be able to transfer the points you have earned since this would be easier than changing the name on your card. Please reach out to Jetstar Customer service team to get assistance on having the points you have earned transferred. Hope this helps!

      Cheers,
      Reggie

I currently have a JetStar Platinum Mastercard. It is up for renewal for $169.
What benefits do I receive for the Platinum card Vs the regular Jetstar Mastercard? I need to see if it is worthwhile to maintain the Platinum Card.

      Hi Ramo,

      Thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, Jetstar Platinum MasterCard will not let you earn rewards points for your payment to the ATO.

If you want to check credit cards that let you earn points for paying tax bills, you can refer to this page.

      I hope this helps.

If I were to book flights for my children traveling in my care, and charge the purchase to my Jetstar Platinum mastercard, would my children be covered by Jetstar Travel Insurance?

      Hi Emma,

Thanks for your question. So long as you’ve used your Jetstar Platinum MasterCard to purchase the full fare of their return overseas travel tickets, they’re travelling with you for the entire duration of the trip and they meet the eligibility requirements, they’ll be covered by Jetstar’s complimentary travel insurance.

I’ve emailed you a copy of the insurance policy document so you can confirm that your children meet the eligibility requirements before leaving on your trip.

      I hope this has helped.

      Cheers,

      Sally

Hi, if I applied for the Jetstar Platinum Card before 18 Jan 2016, but have to wait up to 10 days now for approval, am I still eligible for the $69 reduced first year fee and the 40000 Qantas points (I am a member)? The T&Cs say: “To be eligible for the bonus Qantas Points offer, you must apply for a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard before 18 January 2016, be approved and opt-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards. Receive 40,000 bonus Qantas Points if you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within 60 days of card approval.” The “be approved” part is a bit confusing. Does it mean card approval or approval of the online apply? Otherwise this offer effectively expired on 4 Jan, to allow for the 10 business days approval clause. Please clarify.

      Hi Col,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

Kindly note that finder.com.au is an online comparison service and does not represent any credit card issuer such as Jetstar.

Nonetheless, this particular card required interested applicants to apply and get approved before 18 January 2016 and spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within 2 months of approval to receive 40,000 bonus Qantas Points.

While it is possible to get approved the same business day, it can also take longer.
That’s why it would be best to file an application much earlier so you do not miss the opportunity.

If you wish to clarify on this further, you may get in touch with the Jetstar team directly through the contact details sent to your email.

Also, for a list of other rewards credit cards, you might want to check our different options here.

      I hope this has helped.

    Hi There,

I’m looking at applying for a credit card that says that i need to apply before 18.01.2016 to be qualified for the bonus points.

If i apply tomorrow, am i still eligible. Or does my application need to be approved by that date?

      Hi Amy,

      Thanks for reaching out.

Most credit card issuers, if not all, require you to get your application approved on or before the offer end date.

While it is possible to get approved the same business day, it can also take much longer.
That’s why it would be best to file an application about a week prior so you do not miss the opportunity.

For a list of other rewards credit cards, you might want to check our different options here.

      I hope this has helped.

    Hi, Thanks Sally,
Another question please, is there any yearly charge on top of the card fee for opting to Qantas FF programme, I’m already a member, if so, would that also apply to an additional card for the wife.

    Regards Terry,

PS Sorry I forgot to add my name in the previous question.

      Hi again, Terry.

A $39 annual fee applies for each additional card you add to the account. You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program to earn and redeem Qantas Points and a joining fee will apply if you’re not already enrolled in the program. If your wife has an additional card, she should be able to earn Qantas points on purchases and they’ll automatically be debited into your frequent flyer account.

      I hope this has helped.

      Cheers,

      Sally

Can pensioners apply for the Platinum MasterCard?
Do we just add all our pension totals together as if “income”.
I’m sure I read somewhere that there are two complementary entry to the Business lounge of Jetstar/Qantas per year.

      Hi Terry,

      Thanks for your question.

You can indeed add together your pension totals for your income, as long as they equal AUD $30,000 cumulatively. Although unfortunately you won’t get complimentary business lounge entry, you will get complimentary Qantas Frequent Flyer membership.

      I hope this has helped.

      Cheers,

      Sally
