How do travel insurance promo codes work?

A promo code takes a percentage off your premium at checkout, so you get the same policy, same cover, same PDS, at a cheaper price. The codes on this page are negotiated by Finder directly with insurers and verified by our team, which is why some of them are exclusive to us.

Two things to keep in mind. A discount only makes a policy cheaper, not better. A 10% discount on a policy that doesn't cover your destination or activities is 100% wasted. Compare the cover first, then apply the code. And codes usually apply to the base premium only, so add-ons like cruise or ski cover may be excluded from the discount. The T&Cs on each offer spell this out so ensure you double check the fine print before signing up!

It can be easy to snatch up the policy offering the lowest premium when comparing policies but doing this could leave you drastically underinsured. Here are some key points you may want to consider when looking for value for money travel insurance:

   • Documentation required: It can be helpful to get an understanding what documentation your insurer will require in order for a claim to be paid. Many insurers will require either a receipt or valuation document for some types of claims, for example.

• Why isn't my travel insurance promo code working?

  The usual culprits: the code has expired, it only applies to certain policy tiers or it excludes optional add-ons like cruise or ski cover. Check the T&Cs on the offer, make sure you're entering the code before payment and confirm you clicked through from the correct offer. Some exclusive codes only work via the insurer's Finder link.

• Can I apply a promo code to a travel insurance policy I've already bought?

  Generally no. Promo codes need to be applied at checkout before you pay. If you bought your policy very recently, it's worth calling the insurer to ask, but most won't retroactively discount a purchased policy.
