FinderBot Privacy Collection Notice

FinderBot is an AI-powered virtual assistant designed to help answer your questions.

By using FinderBot, you understand that Finder may handle your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Collection Notice.

Depending on your query, FinderBot may:

  • interact with you to answer your questions and help you;
  • use generative AI to provide you with a response by drawing on information from certain Finder webpages;
  • provide you with links and videos that may be relevant to your query; or
  • direct you to a Finder customer service team member to assist you with your query.

Does FinderBot collect your personal information?

Yes. FinderBot may collect personal information from you when you interact with it. Please see the section below for more information about the types of information we may collect, how we collect this and why we may collect and use your personal information.

What happens if you do not want to provide personal information?

You are in control of what information you share with FinderBot and Finder. You should carefully consider what information you want to share with us via FinderBot.

If you do not want Finder to collect or handle your personal information, please do not provide us with any personal information and interact with FinderBot as a guest user. If you have previously logged on to your Finder account, please clear your cache using your browser settings before interacting with FinderBot. By doing this, you will be able to chat to us without us linking you to your Finder account or identifying you.

However, if you do not provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to assist with your query.

What types of personal information do we collect and why?

FinderBot does not store your personal information or any information that it receives to respond to your queries. However, Finder will retain a record of all chats for the purposes described above.In some circumstances, FinderBot may expressly prompt you to provide your personal information. In those cases, your information will not be handled by FinderBot but will be collected by Finder in accordance with this collection notice.

These technologies do not specifically identify you unless you otherwise provide personal information to us that enables identification, for example, by logging into your Finder account. As such, information collected through these technologies may be personal information.

Chat historyIf you talk to FinderBot, Finder will save a record of your interactions with FinderBot to:
  • respond to your questions that you ask FinderBot;
  • provide continuity of customer care when responding to customer queries, if you're logged into your Finder account;
  • improve FinderBot, our website and mobile applications and our products and services;
  • to assist Finder to provide you with product and service comparisons based on your queries.

If we don't need your personal information for internal business purposes, we may de-identify your personal information before we use it for these purposes.

Your interactions with FinderBotFinderBot uses generative AI to respond to your queries. When you are a logged-in Finder member, FinderBot may also retrieve information from your Finder Member Profile for the duration of your chat session (see the section 'Access to your Finder Member Profile' below). Finder retains a record of your chats for the purposes described in this notice. FinderBot itself does not retain your personal information after the session ends. In some circumstances, FinderBot may expressly prompt you to provide your personal information. In those cases, your information will not be handled by FinderBot but will be collected by Finder in accordance with this collection notice.

Access to your Finder Member Profile

What data FinderBot may accessWhen you are logged into Finder as a member and interact with FinderBot, FinderBot may access information from your Finder Member Profile in order to answer your queries. This information may include:
  • your credit score and comprehensive credit report information supplied by Experian Australia Credit Services Pty Ltd (Experian), comprising the accounts you currently hold, your credit limits, your balances, recent credit enquiries and any adverse credit events;
  • your Finder Rewards balance and rewards transaction history;
  • your previous product comparison activity on finder.com.au; and
  • products you have manually added to your Finder Member Profile as "owned products".

FinderBot accesses this information only for the duration of your active chat session, and only to respond to your queries. FinderBot does not retain this information after the session ends, other than in chat transcripts retained in accordance with our retention practices set out below.

How this data is accessedTo generate responses to your queries, FinderBot transmits the information described above, together with the messages you type into the chat, to our AI service provider Google LLC through its Vertex AI platform.

This processing may occur on Google servers located outside Australia. See 'Overseas disclosure' below.

Google processes this data under a written agreement with Finder that limits its use to generating FinderBot's responses and prohibits Google from using the data to train its models.

Who will we share your personal information with?

We may share your personal information with our service providers and people and organisations as described in our Privacy Policy.

We will only do this where we need to for the purposes described in this notice. Our AI service providers for FinderBot are Google LLC (through its Vertex AI platform). Some of our service providers are located or operate outside of Australia. The countries where our service providers may be located, and to which personal information is likely to be disclosed, include the United States and member states within the European Union
