If you're serious about earning Qantas Points, then you need the right credit card. And every month of Finder, we examine every card on the market to find
you the best Qantas points cards.

We look at annual fees, we look at earn rates, we look at bonus points offers, we look at card perks, we look at everything. So, here they are, the three best Qantas points cards on the market right now.
0:23
At number one, we've got the Qantas American Express Ultimate Card. This is an Amex card and it gives you 90,000 bonus points. But to get those points, you'll need to be a new Amex customer and you'll have to spend $3,000 in the first 3 months.

This card has a pretty high annual fee over $400. But it also comes with a yearly Qantas travel credit of the same amount. So, if you use that travel credit each year, you're effectively making the card pay for itself, which makes it a really attractive offer.
0:52
Number two, we've got the Qantas Money Titanium. Now, this card is a points earning beast. It gives you 150,000 bonus Qantas points. It's one of the market's biggest offers, and you can earn over two points for every dollar you spend. It's a really lucrative card.

It also has flight discounts, bonus status credits, lounge passes. It's a really feature rich card, but there is one big downside. The annual fee is $1,200. This is a points earning card for high rollers and serious earners. If you can afford this card, you probably don't need any financial information from me.

And last, we have the A&Z Frequent Flyer Black. This card is a popular card. It's an award winner at Finder. It regularly is in our top scoring cards. Right now it gives you a 130,000 bonus Qantas points, which is one of the top offers in the market right now.
1:46
There's only one sort of downside, which is you have to hold the card for over 12 months to get those full amount of bonus points, and that means paying the annual fee twice. The annual fee is quite high. It's above $400, but the card does have a $200 cash back offer as part of the bonus offer. So, that offsets that slightly, which makes it a pretty affordable deal with a really high number of Qantas points.

Hi –
I just opened a letter from AMEX to advise that my Qantas American Express Ultimate Card’s QFF points will be changed. I currently use this card as much as I can as it earns 1.5 QFF points per $1. They have changed it so I will now only get 1 QFF point per $1 spend on day to day expenses and only 0.5 point many bills including utilities and rates etc. This makes the card next to useless for me. Does anyone know if this is going to affect all AMEX cards? Does anyone have a good suggestion for an alternate card? I spend and clear around $5Kpm. Already have ANZ Qantas Visa – but that is only 1 point per $1. Thanks Merlin.
Hi Merlin,
Thanks for your question.
As far as we know this is a change just to the card in question. This card is no longer available to new applicants, so it could be a case of American Express scaling back the offer for existing customers to direct them to other products. In regards to your second question, please refer to our comparison of frequent flyer credit cards.
If you are spending this amount a month, you will want to consider applying for a rewards credit card. You have the choice of going for a direct earn product, or a product where you earn rewards and can transfer them to an airline between the major rewards programs and major airlines.
Before applying, please ensure that you meet all the eligibility criteria and read through the details of the needed requirements as well as the relevant Product Disclosure Statements/Terms and Conditions when comparing your options before making a decision on whether it is right for you.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jacob
Westpac platinum will soon cap points earnings to 3750 points per month. they say that they are introducing a black card which will pay .625 points per $ do you know more about this. thank you
Hi Robert,
The Westpac Black Card is available to customers from the 25th of March 2013. This card has no Altitude points cap. I am unaware of the actual earn rates; however, the Westpac website states that the card has the card offers Westpac’s highest earn rates. The other Westpac Altitude cards will have a points cap, which is applied from mid-2013. We have a comparison table that outlines a range of frequent flyer credit cards with uncapped points earning.
Thanks for your question.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Jacob
Do you earn points if you pay your bills with your credit card?
Hello Anna,
thanks for the question.
Some cards will allow you to earn points for paying bills with a credit card. Each card will have a list of eligible and ineligible transactions when it comes to earning points, so consult the terms and conditions or call the particular bank to find out if paying bills will earn points with your card.
I hope this helps,
Marc.
I have received my card but never received a statement . I just used the card the other day so if no purchases don’t I get a statement?
Hi Karen. Thanks for your question. You should get a statement. If you would like to double check. Please contact the lender directly. Cheers.
I have the AMEX Qantas discovery card but many retailers charge extra fees for AMEX. I also want to transfer $4000 of used credit to new card. I am a Qantas Frequent Flyer what’s the next best non-AMEX card for me?
Hello Jon,
thanks for your question.
The best card for you depends your personal circumstances, how you use the card and whether or not you can pay the card in full each month in addition to the annual fee, any membership fees the rewards program brings with it, and how much you’ll be spending on it per month. Many Frequent Flyer cards today give you two linked cards when you sign up. One will be an American Express, and the other will be a Visa or a MasterCard. This means if you go to make a purchase with your American Express and the surcharge is too high or the retailer doesn’t accept American Express cards, you can instead use your linked MasterCard or Visa and still earn points, although this might be at a lower rate.
I hope this helps,
Marc.
