Types of credit cards from Woolworths

Woolworths offers two different reward credit cards. The Woolworths Qantas Platinum Credit Card earns Qantas Points for your spending, while the Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card earns points that are automatically converted to shopping cards every four months. You can then use these shopping cards for spending at participating Woolworths group stores. Depending on when you apply, these credit cards could also include introductory balance transfer offers or purchase rate offers and other perks, which we've outlined below.

Standard and platinum Woolworths credit cards

If you're approved for a credit limit of $6,000 or more, you'll be able to enjoy more benefits with a Woolworths Everyday Platinum and Woolworths Qantas Platinum credit card. But if you're approved for a credit limit of less than $6,000, you will be issued with a Woolworths Everyday Card that does not offer platinum benefits.
  • Balance transfer credit cards

Woolworths credit cards may come with an introductory low or 0% p.a. balance transfer rate that gives you a way to save on interest charges as you pay down your debt. At the end of the introductory period, the low or 0% p.a. balance transfer interest rate reverts to the card's standard variable interest rate for cash advances. Compare the offers in the comparison table and see how much money you can save on interest. Read our step-by-step guide to completing a balance transfer with Woolworths here.

  • Rewards credit cards

The Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card earns 3 credit card points per $1 spent on Woolworths Select and Woolworths brand products, 2 points per $1 on purchases at Woolworths Supermarkets, BWS, Dan Murphy’s, Cellarmasters, Big W and participating Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets and 1 point per $1 spent for all other eligible purchases. These credit card points are automatically converted to Woolworths Shopping Cards every 4 months, with a minimum of 4,000 points equal to a $20 shopping card you can use at participating Woolworths group stores.

The Woolworths Everyday Platinum also includes complimentary purchase security insurance and exclusive discounts at Woolworths Group retailers. It can also double as your Woolworths Rewards card, giving you a way to earn both credit card points and Woolworths Rewards points when you scan your membership barcode before paying at a participating Woolworths, BWS, Big W or Caltex Woolworths fuel outlet.

  • Frequent flyer credit cards

The Woolworths Qantas Platinum Credit Card allows you to earn Qantas Points for your everyday purchases made anywhere the card is accepted. This card offers 1 Qantas Point for every $1 spent at Woolworths Group stores and 0.5 points per $1 spent on other eligible purchases.

Other benefits include complimentary travel insurance, a concierge service and exclusive discounts at Woolworths Group retailers. Remember, you can also earn additional Qantas Points per $1 spent when you link your Woolworths Rewards account to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account and opt-in to earn Qantas Points for your shopping at Woolworths.

  • Low rate and low fee credit cards

Outside of any promotions, the Woolworths Everyday Platinum credit card offers a standard annual fee of $49 that's competitive when compared to other reward credit cards.

The benefits of Woolworths credit cards

Some of the perks you can enjoy with a credit card from Woolworths include:

  • Get 10% off at Woolworths once per month on selected dates

Each month, you'll be emailed details of the offer period that allows you to get 10% off your shop at Woolworths when you scan the barcode on the back of your credit card and pay with it. This offer is available for spending up to $500, which means you can get a maximum of $50 off your shop. Keep in mind that this offer is not available in Tasmania and also excludes spending on certain items. You can also discover more discounts with our Woolworths coupon codes.

  • Woolworths Rewards

If you link your Woolworths Rewards account with a Woolworths credit card, you can also use it to collect Woolworths Rewards points when you shop at participating Woolworths, BWS and Big W stores, as well as at participating Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets. All you'll have to do is scan the membership barcode on the back of your credit card before paying for your shopping to earn points for your Woolworths Rewards account. This is in addition to the Qantas Points or credit card points you earn when paying with your credit card.

  • Earn more Qantas Points when you spend

If you're a member of Woolworths Rewards and choose to earn Qantas Points instead of Woolworths Rewards points, you'll get 870 frequent flyer points for every 2,000 Woolworths Rewards points you earn. Apply for the Woolworths Platinum Qantas Credit Card and you can also rack up Qantas Points per $1 spent on all eligible purchases.

  • Enjoy 50% off selected wine cases at Cellarmasters

Pick a selected white, red or mixed case and pay for it online using your Woolworths credit card to take advantage of 50% off the regular price. Note that delivery charges will still apply.

  • Save with up to 10% off Woolworths Insurance

Use your Woolworths credit card to pay for a new Woolworths Car, Home, Pet or Travel Insurance policy to save up to 10% on the cost. When you're signing up for the policy, you'll also need to enter the first six digits of your credit card number in the promo code field. You can then enjoy the applicable discount for the life of the policy, as long as you pay with your valid Woolworths credit card.

  • Visa features and benefits

Woolworths credit cards come with Visa benefits including exclusive entertainment and ticket offers through Visa Entertainment, worldwide acceptance, contactless payment options and fraud protection services.

  • Platinum perks

Your Woolworths credit card will give you access to platinum benefits including exclusive hotel offers and perks through Visa's Luxury Hotel Collection, a 24/7 concierge service and complimentary insurance.

      Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch. It is essentially advisable to manage your own personal accounts and it will be your own sole decision to entrust it with other people.

    Hi,

If I withdraw cash abroad and want to avoid paying interest. Can I just pay a lump sum off to my credit card before withdrawing the money? Thanks

      Hi HH,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

Any withdrawal from your account will be considered as a Cash Advance which will incur a fee amounting to $5 or 3% of the value of the transaction, whichever is the greater, applies to each cash advance made on your account, debited to your account at the time of the cash advance.
Please you’ll still be charged cash advanced FEE but not cash advance interest

      Hope this information helped.

      Cheers,
      Arnold

      Hi BF,

I have recently upgraded from Gold to Black and was told that I could continue using the old card until it expires. This seems to defeat the object of upgrading as I will only use the Black card in future. Will I be paying two monthly subscriptions until the old card expires even though I am not using it? Also, what happens to my existing accumulated reward points? Thank you.

    • finder Customer Care
      JonathanMay 13, 2016Staff

Hi John, thanks for your inquiry.

With credit card upgrades generally the old card is no longer effective when the new card arrives. There should not be any duplication resulting in paying two monthly subscriptions as both cards are under the one credit card account. Existing accumulated reward points will still remain on your account. For more information regarding your upgrade it would be best to contact Woolworths directly on 1300 10 1234.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,

      Jonathan

      Hi Debra,

      Thanks for your question.

Just to confirm, you have come through to finder.com.au not Woolworths. If you began your application, there should’ve been an option to save it so you could continue working on it later if you needed to. If not, you might need either contact Woolworths directly to confirm whether you can continue your application or whether you need to start again.

      Cheers,

      Sally
