Virgin Mobile partners with Presto for bonus data

Alex Kidman 3 December 2015

Virgin Mobile postpaid customers who stream Presto on their devices will get an extra 2GB per month for half a year.

Virgin Mobile’s latest promotional deal sees the telco partner up with media streaming service Presto for a data deal that’s similar to its existing Guvera music streaming bonus offer.

From 3 December, if you’re a Virgin Mobile postpaid customer on a contract plan costing $59 per month or more or a SIM-only plan worth $40 or more, you can score an additional 2GB of data per month to use on your plan if you stream Presto content on your device. The deal involves using your Virgin Mobile device to stream content, then texting to receive a bonus data code, and will run for six months.

2GB of essentially free data, as long as you continue to stream Presto content at least once per month is no bad thing per se, but it’s worth keeping in mind that it won’t enable a huge run of mobile video streaming. 2GB of data would allow you around two hours of additional on-the-go streaming so it would still be wise to keep your mobile video streaming ambitions in check.
