Virgin Mobile is holding a one-day 17GB SIM-only plan sale
$50 a month for 17GB on a 12-month contract plan.
Usually, when carriers offer a special deal to entice customers, they let it run for a while in order to hook in as many phone users as possible. Virgin Mobile is taking the opposite approach, presumably hoping that time constraints will bring folks flocking to sign up to its $50/month 12-month SIM-only plan, which is only being offered for one day, tomorrow 4 May 2017.
Sign up today, and you'll score 15GB per month, along with unlimited standard national calls and texts and $300 worth of international calling credits. Sign up tomorrow, however, and you'll get 17GB per month for the same $50 asking price. If you’re a member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer scheme, you can also shave an additional 10% off your plan price each month.
Virgin Mobile’s plans operate on parent carrier Optus’s 4G network across Australia and as these are contract plans, any additional usage above your allocated data or calling limits will attract additional charges. At this plan tier, you're also able to stream music from Spotify, Google Play Music, Pandora and IHeartRadio with no additional data charges, although subscription fees for those services still apply.
The minimum amount you can spend on a standard 12-month SIM-only contract is $600. The 17GB deal runs for tomorrow only, but the effective 2GB of bonus data per month applies throughout the length of the contract.
If $50 per month is too rich for your budget, Virgin Mobile's $30 double data deal is still running. You've got a little more time for that deal, which runs until 14 June 2017.
