Will my insurance premium be refunded if the present unrest in the middle east is not resolved by my departure date 1 June 2026 Travelling thru Dubai to UK with Qantas?
Cheers
Hi Don,
Insurance likely won’t refund you because unrest continues, as war/conflict is usually excluded. If you cancel your trip yourself, you’ll likely get nothing back. Your best chance of a refund or credit is if Qantas cancels or changes the flight, as they are more likely to offer you credit or a refund. Hope this helps
Can I subscribe to an international travel insurance from a date when I will already be overseas? I already hold an international travel insurance cover for 3 months through my credit card, but I am traveling an extra week after the 3 months. I am looking for a policy to cover that extra week. Is that possible with Tick Insurance?
Hey Flo,
This probably won’t work the way you’d like it to. Travel insurance companies will almost always require you to start and end your trip in your home country. This is because they underwrite each trip as a whole block. Generally speaking, you won’t be able to pre-purchase a travel insurance policy that starts when you’re already overseas.
I’ll also mention that it’s possible that the length of your trip means that your credit card travel insurance won’t be able to cover your trip at all. If the T’s & C’s limit your trip to a maximum of 90 days, then you’ll likely be required to have left and be back in Australia within that 90 day window. That means that your travel insurance might not be able to cover claims you make at the start of your trip, because your whole trip doesn’t meet the policy conditions.
The first thing to do is check if this is the case, or if your credit card travel insurance is extendable to the full trip. Be prepared though – this is pretty rare with credit card travel insurance. Your credit card company should be able to provide you a phone number to find out more.
If that fails, you’ll likely need a separate policy for the whole trip. Keep in mind that for a long trip like this, you might even benefit from a more comprehensive policy than what’s available through your credit card. Complimentary credit card travel insurance tends to be a little more basic than standalone policies.
Please remember this is not personal advice, and the specifics could change dramatically between insurers and different travellers – the best person to speak to about your specific plans is a travel agent, travel insurance provider or travel insurance broker.
Best of luck, and enjoy your trip!
Hello,
I need to speak with someone as I have made a mistake on my application can I please have a phone number to ask personal questions.
Hi Margaret,
Assuming you took a policy out with Tick Travel insurance, then you can call their 24 hour assistance line on +61 2 9333 3963. We can’t speak to you out your policy, but Tick will be able to. If you took a policy out with a different fund, then you’ll need to track down their contact number.
Hope this helps!
Under the medical expenses, if a bill has been paid in cash and I need to issue a claim, can I still get my money back ? Thank you
Hi Valentina,
Regardless of how the bill was paid, you should have a receipt of payment which you can use for the claim. Hope this helps!
Hi Peta,
We’re a review and comparison site and we’re not affiliated with any travel insurers, so you will need to contact the company you bought this policy through to discuss your situation. Best of luck!
