Westpac offers credit cards you can compare for all kinds of goals, including 0% balance transfer offers, bonus points, low-cost options and business credit cards.
Westpac is one of Australia's Big Four Banks and offers credit cards for everyday spending, as well as cards for businesses.
If you're a new customer, you can also compare Westpac credit card introductory offers that can give you cashback, bonus points or a promotional 0% interest rate.
Westpac credit cards can be added to the following mobile wallets and apps:
Apple Pay
Google Pay
Samsung Pay
Garmin Pay
Westpac Extras
This complimentary program gives you access to cashback offers with well-known brands and stores in Australia. You'll see the latest offers when you log in to Westpac Live. You can also sign up to get offers emailed to you. When you get an offer, you just need to shop at the store and pay with your eligible Westpac credit card, and the cashback will be added to your account as a statement credit.
You can get Westpac Extras offers with any personal Westpac credit card, but not with the Westpac BusinessChoice, Westpac corporate credit cards, Westpac consumer or business debit cards. Also keep in mind that payments made through platforms like PayPal are not eligible to earn cashback.
Westpac SmartPlan credit card instalment plans
Westpac SmartPlan lets you pay off your credit card balance in regular, monthly instalments. This means you'll pay the same amount for your plan each month. Some SmartPlans also offer a reduced interest rate, with 2 main types to choose from:
Large Purchase SmartPlan. You can set up a Large Purchase SmartPlan for any single purchase worth $500 or more as long as it's been made in the past 30 days. This makes it suited to individual big-ticket items bought with your credit card, such as a new laptop, flights or hotel bookings. Keep in mind that establishment fees apply and will be shown before you set up a plan.
Balance SmartPlan. This option allows you to set up instalments for any credit card balance of $200 or more.
You can set up a Westpac SmartPlan in a few clicks through online banking or the Westpac App.
How do I cancel my Westpac SmartPlan?
You can cancel your SmartPlan at any time through Westpac online banking or the Westpac app. There are no cancellation fees and it will take up to 2 business days to confirm the cancellation.
Westpac PartPay
Similar to buy now pay later, Westpac PartPay lets you split purchases of $100 or more into 4 fortnightly repayments. The repayments come out of your nominated bank account and there are no additional fees as long as you have enough money in your account for each fortnight's automatic repayment.
If you have an eligible Westpac credit card, you can set up PartPay through the Westpac App and will get a digital card (linked to your credit card account). Then, just use your PartPay card to make any purchases you want to pay for in instalments.
Annual fee waiver - home loan offer
With a Westpac Home Loan Premier Advantage Package, you can get the annual fee waived on one of the following credit cards:
Existing customers may also get a fee waiver for an eligible credit card that is no longer taking new applications. Just note that the Advantage Package only offers one credit card fee waiver per package.
Security features
Westpac credit card security includes 24-hour fraud protection monitoring services for your account, added online security through Mastercard Identity Check and Visa Secure and an online transaction security guarantee to ensure you're not liable for online transactions made without your knowledge or consent.
The Westpac Global ATM Alliance network
When you get a Westpac credit card, you can use it to withdraw cash for free at ATMs that are part of the Westpac Group. This includes ATMs offered by Westpac, St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne. You can also save on ATM withdrawal fees worldwide thanks to the Westpac Global ATM alliance.
How to apply for a Westpac credit card
Applying for a credit card online is fast and easy. You'll need to be at least 18 years of age and meet the card's eligibility criteria. For more about eligibility, the kinds of documentation you'll need and the factors that can affect whether your card application is approved, check out our full guide to applying for a credit card.
Credit card brands similar to Westpac
If you want to compare Westpac credit cards to those from other lenders, you could consider the other Big Four Banks in Australia:
There isn't one best Westpac credit card that will suit everyone, because people get credit cards for all kinds of reasons. But the 2025 Finder Credit Card Awards used expert analysis of 12 months' worth of data to determine the best credit cards and Westpac credit cards were recognised in the following categories:
Keep in mind: There's no one best credit card for everyone, so check details that matter to you. You can also view the full list of 2025 Finder Credit Card Awards, including details of the methodology for each category to help decide if one of these cards is right for you.
If you're an existing Westpac credit card user, you can choose to make your repayments using any of the following:
BPAY
BPAY gives you a way to pay your Westpac credit card from another bank account. You need to make the payment through your bank's online banking platform, and require the following details:
Biller name: Westpac Cards
Biller code: 5181
Reference number: Your Westpac credit card number
Card AutoPay
You can set up automatic payments using your Australian savings or transaction account. If you wish to set up automatic payments using an existing Westpac account, you can do so through online banking or by calling 1300 130 961 (8am-8pm, 7 days a week). To use an account with a different financial intuition, you have to take a completed Card Autopay Request form into any Westpac branch along with your ID.
When setting up your automatic repayments, you can choose to pay a set amount of the closing balance, a percentage of the closing balance, the minimum payment due or the full balance.
Transfer from an existing Westpac account
Existing transaction account holders with Westpac get three ways to make repayments towards their credit card accounts:
Login to Westpac's online banking platform and transfer funds from your transaction accounts to your credit card accounts
Use Westpac's phone banking platform and authorise payments towards your credit card accounts
Make repayments by visiting your closest ATM and transferring funds from your transaction accounts to your credit card accounts
Make payments at a Westpac Branch
If you live or work close to a Westpac branch, you can simply walk into a branch and make your repayments during opening hours. Most Westpac branches are open between 9:30 am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
You must make at least the minimum monthly payment, and you also have the option of paying more each month. Paying as much as you can towards the outstanding balance will help minimise the interest you pay. Here are the key details:
The greater of 2% of your closing balance or $10; and
The greater of any unpaid past due amounts from previous statements or any amount that exceeds your credit limit.
If your closing balance is less than $10, you must repay the full amount.
To transfer your existing credit card debt to a Westpac credit card under a balance transfer promotion, proceed through the online application as normal. You’ll be asked whether you want to transfer a balance when it comes to the point of the application where you’re asked about your financial situation. Enter the card number, the amount you want to transfer and select the name of the institution that provides the card. See our guide on how to conduct a balance transfer with Westpac for further information.
You can transfer up to 80% of your approved credit limit to a Westpac credit card.
You must make a payment to your credit card every month as advised by your monthly statement. Your statement will note when the payment is due and what minimum payment is required. The minimum payment will be equal to 2% of the closing balance or $10, whichever is greater – added on to any unpaid due amount. If you need to move your statement date so it coincides with your pay, then you can call Westpac to discuss this.
You can activate your new Westpac credit card online or through the Westpac mobile app by logging in and following the prompts. You can also activate it through phone banking by calling 1300 308 930.
You can cancel your Westpac credit card account in a few minutes through Internet baking or the Westpac App at any time. You could also cancel your account by calling Westpac on 132 032 or by visiting a branch. Just keep in mind that you will need to make sure there are no outstanding payments before the account can be fully closed.
If you have misplaced your Westpac card, you have the option of temporarily locking it so that no unauthorised transactions are made. You can do this online or through the mobile app using the following steps:
Log in to your account.
Go to "Services and preferences" if you're online, or "Services and security" if you're using the mobile app.
Go to the "Card services" section and select "Lock a card temporarily".
Choose the card you want to lock. A padlock will appear next to it to show that it is locked.
You can also unlock your card from this screen in online or mobile banking. Otherwise, this "card on hold" service will last for a maximum of 15 days before it is unlocked again. If you haven't found your card at this time, you should report it through your online or mobile account. Alternatively, you can report a lost or stolen card by calling 1300 130 961.

Hello,
I have noticed on the list of cards Westpac is advertising a “special offer” card which does not mention that it reverts to cash rate for balance transfer after the 20 month period – however when I try to apply, the fine print says it does revert after the 20 month period?

Hi Susie,
Thank you for your inquiry.
That is correct, Westpac credit cards revert to the cash advance rate with selected cards reverting to the purchase rate. You may like to refer to the following link for a guide to balance transfer revert rates.

Hi, I have 2 home loans and a basic account with Westpac. I used to have a Westpac Credit Card but have not had one for a long time.
In fact I still get a statement from Westpac Credit card saying my balance is $3.50 or whatever.
I have been a Westpac customer for about 30 years or more. I need some money urgently and would only want to take out the minimum amount on a credit card.
Are you able to help?

Hi Marjorie,
Thanks for your question.
You might want to get in contact with Westpac to find out the status of your credit card account – if you’re receiving statements that you have a balance due then your account may still be active. Once you’ve confirmed the status of your account you can compare Westpac credit cards using the table on this page.
If you’re looking for a card just for a few one-off payments you might want to consider a card with low interest and low fees or no annual fee to help keep your ongoing costs low. You can check the minimum eligibility for each of these cards by clicking on the name of the card, then when you’re ready to apply you can click ‘Go to Site and apply as an existing customer.
I hope this has helped.
Thanks,
Elizabeth
