I only want a card for when I travel overseas can I cancel the card when I return as I don’t want the card anymore

Hi Margaret,

Yes you can cancel a credit card at any time. Just keep in mind that applying for a credit card will add to your credit history and could affect your credit score. If you only want a card for a short amount of time, you could consider different travel money options, such as prepaid travel money cards. I hope that helps.

Hi, to be eligible for the Westpac lite card, is there a minimum amount that I have to earn a year? And does having ongoing Afterpay instalments affect my credit rating/my chances of getting a credit card?

Hi Jess,

Thank you for contacting Finder.

There is no specific annual income required to be able to apply for the Westpac Lite Credit Card though you need to provide documents to prove your employment information such as current job and salary.

Regarding your Afterpay Instalments, if you are not missing any repayments, it should not negatively affect your credit rating. As part of the card’s requirements, you need to declare your debt/s and your estimated monthly expenses.

A friendly reminder that before submitting your final application for the above Credit Card, make sure that you have read and understood its PDS as well as the Terms and Conditions.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ash
