Our verdict

Offers 20,000 bonus Flybuys points and 0% interest on purchases for the first 6 months, with no annual fee ever.

The Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard is one of the few credit cards offering both rewards and no annual fee. Right now, it offers 20,000 bonus Flybuys points when you apply online by 30 June 2024 and spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from card approval. That’s enough points to redeem $100 Flybuys dollars for shopping at Coles Supermarkets, Kmart, Target and other partners. Or, you could convert them to 10,000 Velocity Points for frequent flyer rewards. This isn’t the biggest bonus points offer on the market, but it is competitive for a card with an ongoing $0 annual fee, because they rarely offer bonus points.

Pros

  • 20,000 bonus Flybuys points
  • 0% p.a. on purchases for the first 6 months
  • Ongoing $0 annual fee
  • Earn Flybuys points for your spending

Cons

  • Flybuys points earn rate is low at the equivalent of 0.5 points per $1 spent
  • 19.99% p.a. purchase rate after the introductory period
  • 2.5% foreign transaction fee

The Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard was highly commended in the 2024 Finder Awards Best No Annual Fee Rewards Credit Card category. As well as bonus points, this offer gives you a way to save on upcoming purchases with 0% p.a. interest on purchases for the first 6 months. Just make sure to factor in the 19.99% p.a. interest rate that applies after that, because it could quickly add up if you’re still paying off purchases.

Hi there,

“0% p.a. on balance transfers for 12 months, with no BT fee” — does this mean that after the 12 month period, the 55 day interest-free period becomes obsolete and one will have to pay interest daily on any purchase they make?

Thank you :)

Hi Mimi,

Yes that’s right, after 12 months, any balance you’re still carrying from the initial balance transfer will be subject to the current full interest raet each day until it’s paid off.

Hi Lucy,

No, if you make the minimum payment, you will still be charged interest.

The minimum repayment is usually around 2-3% of the total credit limit. On a card with a $10,000 limit, the minimum repayment would be $200-300 (the exact amount can vary depending on the card provider’s policy). Paying only the minimum due means you’re likely to pay interest each month.

To avoid paying interest, you need to repay the statement balance in full. This is the full balance of items charged to the card during the statement balance, and is often quite a lot higher than the minimum due. \

Hope this helps!

Hi Hanabi,

Yes that’s right, you’ll receive points twice – once through your card, and once through the retailer.
