St.George Amplify Rewards

From flights and travel options to shopping or gift cards, here’s what you need to know about Amplify Rewards points.

We’re reader-supported and may be paid when you visit links to partner sites. We don’t compare all products in the market, but we’re working on it!

Amplify Rewards allows you to collect points as you use your credit card and then redeem those points in exchange for a variety of rewards. Once you've racked up your points you can use them to purchase gift cards, flights or other merchandise.

Here, we outline everything you need to know about earning and redeeming Amplify Rewards points through St.George.

How to earn Amplify Rewards Points

Earning points with St.George is really simple. You need to own either an Amplify Rewards Platinum or an Amplify Rewards Signature credit card. You earn points for every dollar you spend. These points will build up and unlike some credit card rewards programs, there is no cap and no expiry.

If you don't already have an Amplify Rewards credit card, check out the range now and compare them by earn rates, bonus points, costs and other features.

You can also earn Qantas points through the Amplify Qantas credit card range.

Introductory bonus point offers

Signing up with Amplify Rewards Platinum can get you 100,000 bonus rewards points. If you sign up with Amplify Rewards Signature you can get up to 200,000 bonus rewards points. These offers don't run all year, so be sure to look at what bonus points are on offer.

The offers give you a way to boost your point balance and give you hundreds of dollars in value when you first get a card. However, you may need to meet a minimum spend requirement. For example, new customers signing up for the Platinum card before 30 June 2022 can get 100,000 bonus points, but a minimum spend of $3,000 applies.

6 ways to decide if the Amplify Rewards program is worth it

Although a rewards program sounds like a reason to jump on board with a credit card, there are things to note. For instance, the St.George Amplify credit cards have annual fees and pretty high minimum credit limits.

Here are some ways to help you decide if the rewards program is worth it.

  1. Different earn rates. Each credit card has different earn rates, but with a higher earn rate comes a higher annual fee.
  2. Type of points. If you're saving for a trip or you frequently travel, earning Qantas points could be of more benefit to you.
  3. Annual fees. Each card has an annual fee, but the annual fees for the Signature cards are considerably higher.
  4. Minimum credit limits. While some of the offers seem enticing, ask yourself whether you would really need that much credit.
  5. Use of the card. Would you be using the card enough to warrant the costs and earn enough points?
  6. Meeting repayments. If you can't meet your repayments, you may end up being worse off than if you had paid outright for the rewards you bought with your points.
