Here are a few questions and answers about RAA travel insurance.

Q. Are these policies available to over-70s?

  • A. Yes. However, the policy might be more expensive in accordance with your age. You may also have to submit to medical assessment and trip duration limits.

Q. I work overseas. Am I eligible for travel insurance?

  • A. These policies are tailored to leisure travelling rather than cover for employment overseas. If you do suffer an injury while working, your first step would be to seek compensation from your employer.

Q. I’m already on holiday. Can I apply for travel insurance?

  • A. No. These policies have to be purchased before you leave Australia on your holiday.

Q. What kind of documentation should I submit with my claims form? A. Depending on your claim, you will be asked to submit medical reports, invoices, receipts, police reports, itineraries and luggage tags. The more complete your report, the more efficient the claims process. Q. How is my claim payment calculated?

  • A. The following aspects are taken into account when calculating your claim payment:
  • The amount of loss, damage or liability
  • The excess
  • The maximum benefit limits and sub-limits
  • Reasonable depreciation
  • The terms of the policy

Can I cancel my RAA policy if I’m not happy with it?

If you decide you no longer want your policy, you can cancel it within 15 working days from the date of issue. If cancelled within this cooling-off period, you are eligible for a full refund provided you haven’t left on your trip or filed to claim from your policy.

RAA insurance provider offers a varied range of insurance policies for basic and comprehensive travel cover. Additional options like increased excess for rental vehicles and cover for valuable items are available to upgrade your chosen policy.
