Hi Kevin – thanks for your question. First thing to check is whether your credit card insurance is limited to 3 or 6 months. Having a look at the ANZ credit card insurance booklet, there’s a difference between the maximum trip length depending on the type of car you have:
Up to six (6) consecutive months for ANZ Black Credit Card cardholders, their spouses and/or dependants. Up to three (3) consecutive months for ANZ Platinum Credit Card cardholders, their spouses and/or dependants.
If you have the Platinum card, then the complimentary travel insurance won’t be able to cover a 4 month trip. Unfortunately, credit card insurance policies are rarely able to be extended – though you can give ANZ a call and see if they’re able to make an arrangement for you. If they can’t, you’ll need to pick up a separate travel insurance policy.
If you have the ANZ Black Credit Card, then it sounds like something weird is happening on the website. In that case, give ANZ a call and see if they can help you out with a custom certificate.
Best of luck!

Hi Angelo,
To activate this cover, you must spend at least $250 on your prepaid travel costs (such as flights, accom or tours) before leaving Australia on your ANZ platinum card. If you have already purchased flights using the card, then you’ve met this condition already. There are other conditions too: you must be aged under 81, an Australian resident, your account must be current/not be in default and you have a return ticket, with a travel period of less than six months. Your spouse is also covered, as long as they travel with you for at least 50% of the trip.
The full terms and conditions, and information on what the insurance covers, is available here. Enjoy your trip!
