Yearly Travel Insurance

What is Yearly Travel Insurance?

Do you travel a lot because of work? Are you someone who winters in Aspen and summers in Spain? If somebody was to describe you, would they use the adjective jetsetter? As the name suggests, yearly travel insurance provides policyholders with year-round protection. Also referred to as annual travel insurance or annual multi-trip insurance, yearly travel insurance is a great option for those who takes multiple trips each year. Yearly travel insurance is convenient and cost effective. With an annual multi-trip travel policy, you are covered for all the trips you take within the duration of the travel policy.

The point of a yearly travel insurance policy is not so that you can take a yearlong trip. While yearly travel insurance provides comprehensive travel insurance that covers multiple trips, there are limits in regards to the duration of the trip. Of course, these vary depending on your insurance provider. The good news is that there are no limits on the number of trips you can take within a year.

Tips to Compare Yearly Travel Insurance Policies

No two yearly travel insurance policies are the same, which is why it is so important to compare different policies and providers. As a rule of thumb, you should compare quotes from three companies.

Cover varies between policies issued by the same company. For example, the medical cover you get with domestic covers and international trips are quite different.

How you travel also impacts your premiums. If you are planning on taking a cruise, you may need to take out cruise insurance as an additional extra. If you are planning on riding a motorcycle, you will need to make sure.

If you travel for business and carry expensive electronic devices, try and find a policy with the highest benefit payments for valuable or expensive items.

There are a few things you must have with any travel insurance policy and these are:

  • medical and dental cover
  • cancellation
  • personal liability
  • baggage and personal items cover
  • travel delays.

It’s also important to consider special requirements when taking up your yearly travel insurance. Special requirements include travellers with pre-existing conditions, adventure travellers and senior citizens.

    I will be travelling on several occasions in the next 12 months.
    I know that at least one of these trips will be longer than 90 days.
    Is there a multi trip policy that can cater for this?

      Hi Jenny,

      Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, the maximum trip duration for a single trip offered on any of the annual travel insurance policies in our panel is 93 days. To find out more about annual travel insurance, please consult our annual multi-trip page.

      I hope this was helpful,

      Hi Janine,

      Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, is a comparison service and not an insurer. The cost for a yearly policy depends on certain factors. For instance, are you after an annual multi trip policy or a single trip policy for one year? These policies differ in terms of cost and trip duration. Below is an example of how the two cover types vary (the cost displayed is the cheapest policy from our travel insurance panel):
      Policy type = Annual Multi-Trip
      Destination = USA
      Cost = $271.27
      Max Trip = 30 Days

      Policy Type = Single Trip
      Destination = USA
      Cost = $499.95
      Max Trip = 365 days

      I hope this was helpful,
