Fast Cover's won the 2026 highly commended Award for the Comprehensive category.
With a specific Bicycle add-on, travellers heading on a cycling holiday can opt for extra protection - up to $5,000 per bike.
Fast Cover Travel Insurance offers a wide range of customisations, including specific packs for bicycles, motorcycling, adventure activities, snow sports and cruising.
Cons
Pregnancy is only covered up until the 23rd week if you are pregnant with a single child (19 weeks for twins or multiple children). But we found 11 brands that extend cover beyond this point.
Although cruise travel can be covered, there's no specific policy for cruising which means some cruise-specific risks may be overlooked.

How does Fast Cover Travel Insurance cover Covid-19?
Fast Cover is one of the few insurers that offer some cover for COVID-related claims. The three key benefits covered are:
Unlimited Covid-19 overseas emergency medical expenses, including medical evacuation and repatriation
Up to $5,000 for trip cancellation and disruption due to Covid-19
Additional expenses you might incur, including travel, accommodation and childcare costs
There are still some pandemic-related costs that are not covered at all by Fast Cover, including expenses related to lockdowns, border closures and quarantine.
What policies do Fast Cover offer?
Fast Cover has six levels of cover available: Domestic Plus, Snow Sports Plus, Basics, Standard Saver, Comprehensive and Frequent Traveller Saver. Here are some of the main insured events a policy can cover you for:
Domestic Plus
Snow Sports Plus
Basics
Standard Saver
Comprehensive
Frequent Traveller Saver
The insurance is issued by Lloyd's and comes with a 25-day money back guarantee. The excess is the amount you're required to pay when you make a claim and you can adjust this if you pay an additional premium.
"I was travelling to Las Vegas on a business trip for a few days. I was originally going to buy insurance from another provider that had scored more highly - however I read the pros and cons on Finder's review and it pointed out that I might want to check accidental death and disruption expenses. FastCover had better coverage for those so I went with them! "

Here's a breakdown of Fast Cover travel insurance features
A Fast Cover Travel Insurance policy has a stack of benefits that can cover you leading up to and during your trip. We've highlighted some of the main benefits included in the Comprehensive policy to help you decide if Fast Cover is the best option for you:
24/7 overseas emergency medical assistance
Accidental death
Loss of income
Luggage and personal effects
Overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses
Overseas emergency dental
Permanent disability
Special event transport expenses
Trip disruption expenses
Trip cancellation expenses
Optional add-on
When purchasing any of the insurance plans from Fast Cover, you have the chance of choosing a Single Policy, Duo Policy or Family Policy at purchase. Other optional add-ons include:
Adventure pack for additional cover on top of the standard sports and activities
Motorcycle pack covers you as a rider or passenger on a motorcycle, scooter or moped
Bicycle pack can cover any bicycles that you take on your trip
Exclusions
As with any travel insurance provider, there are certain situations when your claim may not be paid. Some of Fast Cover Travel Insurance's general exclusions include if:
Your claim arises from any medical or pregnancy condition that existed during the period of 3 years prior to Your policy issue date and is not listed as covered, or is listed as excluded on your Certificate of insurance, or if changes in health occurred after the policy issue date and before your trip, unless a new medical screening is completed before departure and it’s listed on our Certificate of insurance.
Your claim arises from you being aware at the time you bought your policy of something that would impact your ability to travel. For example, if you knew a family member may pass away during your trip, and you had the intention of using your policy to cover last minute changes to your travels, you might not be covered for those expenses.
You won’t be covered if you travel and ignore government warnings and known events in the media for reasons set out in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). For example, you may not be covered if you take out a policy after a volcano eruption warning is issued on the news.
Your claim arises from being denied boarding from a travel provider due to COVID-19 vaccination requirements, or from errors in any booking arrangements, failure to obtain relevant visa, passport or travel documents, or being rejected access to a country on arrival for any reason.
You won’t be covered if you travel against the advice of a doctor or medical practioner.
You won’t be coverd if your claim arises from the consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs.
Make sure you review Fast Cover's Product Disclosure Statement for a detailed breakdown of what is and isn't covered.

Here's the bottom line about Fast Cover Travel Insurance
Fast Cover's comprehensive policy offers an impressive range of add-on options, including specific packs for bicycles, motorbikes, adventure sports, snow sports, and hire cars. This means policies can be customised to suit a wide range of holidays and travellers.
However, there are areas where Fast Cover's Comprehensive Travel Insurance isn't as strong. Like how pregnancy cover is on the lower end of what is typically offered by insurance brands and is only covered up until the end of the 23rd week. (We found 11 brands that extend beyond this point).
Finally, there is no specific cruise policy. While cover can be extended so you're protected on cruises, cover for some cruise-specific risks may be lacking, such as cabin confinement or seasickness cover.
Fast Cover insurance can be suitable for a variety of travellers, including backpackers, families and seniors. As with any insurance, it's important to review the product disclosure statement to make sure the policy suits your particular needs.

Hi,
My husband and I have secured travel insurance with you for a trip to Bali in January 2016. We missed the cut off date for inclusion of coverage for cancellation due to volcanic ash by 3 days.
I notice some insurance companies have now lifted this restriction eg Easy Travel Insurance and Travel Insurance Saver. Is Fast Cover contemplating doing the same thing in the future?
Thank you.

Finder is a comparison service. We do not compare every product or every provider in the market.
We make money through commercial arrangements with some of the providers on this site. Products marked 'Sponsored', 'Promoted', 'Featured' or 'Advertisement' appear as a result of a commercial arrangement.
Our editorial content, product reviews and any 'Top Pick' designations are prepared independently of these commercial arrangements.
The default order of products in our tables can be influenced by commercial arrangements. You can re-sort or filter using the controls above each table.

Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
Our comparison service does not include every product or every provider in the market. Some product issuers offer their products under multiple brands or through associated companies. Where we can, we identify the underlying issuer so you can compare like with like, but you should always check with the provider directly to confirm which brand you are dealing with.
Finder is a comparison website and an intermediary. We are not a product issuer and we do not provide personal financial or credit advice. When you click a link to a product, or apply for a product through our site, you deal directly with the product issuer. We may receive a referral fee, commission or other payment from the issuer if you click through, apply or take out a product. We describe these arrangements in more detail under 'How we make money' below.
Product features, fees, terms and eligibility criteria are set by the product issuer and may change. We rely on information supplied by issuers when we present product details on our site. Before you apply for or take out any product, you should confirm the details directly with the issuer.
We earn revenue from Finder in four principal ways:
Referral fees and commissions. When you click a product link, complete an enquiry form or apply for a product through our site, we may receive a referral fee, commission or other payment from the product issuer. We may also receive payment based on the volume of leads or conversions we send to an issuer.
Sponsored placements. Products marked 'Sponsored', 'Promoted', 'Featured' or 'Advertisement' appear as a result of a commercial arrangement between Finder and the issuer. These labels always indicate a paid placement. We do not use them for editorial choices.
Display advertising. Banner advertising, newsletter advertising and similar display ads on our site are paid by advertisers.
Content sponsorship. Some articles, videos and social media posts are sponsored by an issuer and are clearly labelled as such.
Our editorial opinions, product reviews and any 'Top Pick' designations are prepared independently of these commercial arrangements. A 'Top Pick' is an editorial choice made by our writers and editors based on the criteria described on each comparison page. A 'Top Pick' is not a personal recommendation and does not mean the product is appropriate for your circumstances.
If you would like to know whether we have a commercial arrangement with a specific product issuer, please contact us.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the default order can be influenced by commercial arrangements we have with product issuers. In some categories, sponsored or featured products appear in the top positions of the table by default, and are always labelled as such.
Other factors that influence default order include price, fees and features, and (where relevant) our editorial view of the product.
You can re-sort every comparison table using the controls above the table. You can filter by product features that matter to you. The order you see after re-sorting or filtering is not influenced by commercial arrangements.
