The Bank of Melbourne Amplify Platinum boasts a high number of total bonus points but the spend requirement is a bit trickier than some other cards, having to spend $6,000 each year for the first two years to get the full amount.

The Amplify Rewards program gives you plenty of ways to redeem your points. For example, you could exchange 100,000 Amplify Points for 50,000 Velocity Points, Malaysia Enrich points or Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles. It’s also almost enough points to redeem a $500 David Jones eGift Card (110,000 points).

      Hi Shak,

      Thanks for getting in touch.

Yes, it is possible to purchase a car using a credit card with sufficient balance. However, to earn the 50k bonus points will depend on how your car purchase is processed. One thing you can do is ask the car store what credit cards they accept and how they process credit card transactions. Please note that for BOM Amplify Platinum, eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account. To get more information, you can call the bank or read the terms and conditions of the card.

      Hope this helps!

    Hi Ranko,

    Thanks for getting in touch!

Here’s a breakdown of your questions.

#1 How much is the balance transfer interest rate?

    – This card is not a Balance Transfer Credit Card

#2 How many Qantas points do I get? Is there any conditions that preclude me from getting these points?

    – Amplify Qantas. Earn 1 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible transactions, uncapped.
    – LIMITED OFFER: Apply for a Bank of Melbourne Amplify Platinum Credit Card by 26 September 2018 and spend $2,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of card approval to receive 50,000 bonus Qantas points.

#3 I currently have a St George visa & Anz, How much would I have to spend to get these points?

    – This would be dependent on the specific card you have with these providers. You may also check this on their respective websites.

Hope the answers above was helpful.
