There are 2 policies to choose from, depending on how comprehensive you want your policy to be. Travel Protect offers an entry-level COVID Basic policy, alongside a more extensive Explorer plan:

Travel Protect offers a 21-day cooling-off period. The cooling-off period is the amount of time within which you can change your mind after taking out insurance – and securing a full refund.

Overseas medical expenses – unlimited
Funeral expenses abroad – up to $20,000 if you pass away while on your travels (Explorer only)
Hospital benefit – up to $50 per day, capped at $1,000 (Explorer only)
Airfare reimbursement – up to $2,500 (Explorer only)
Optional add-on
Trip cancellation cover – Select up to $4,000 (with COVID Basic) or $40,000 (with Explorer) in case you're forced to change your plans for a reason that's stated in your policy
Personal liability – cover for up to $25m in damages, bodily injury or death which you cause to third parties, including legal expenses (Explorer only)
Travel delay – up to $2,000 if your plans go awry due to an unforeseen reason (Explorer only)
Lost or stolen luggage – Choose up to $10,000 to cover your lost, stolen or damaged items including belongings such as your laptop, phone, camera and travel documents (Explorer only)
Rental vehicle excess – pays up to $5,000 if your hire car gets damaged or stolen (Explorer only)

Pet boarding – up to $200 per day, capped at $1,400 if your trip back to Oz is delayed (Explorer only)

Exclusions
A range of events won't be covered by your Travel Protect Travel Insurance. Some general policy exclusions include:
Any pre-existing condition that's excluded from your policy
Pregnancy after the 24th week; or the 19th with twins, triplets, etc.
Antenatal care
Activities which need to be covered through a policy add-on with Travel Protect
Indirect losses, such as loss of enjoyment or business opportunity
A criminal or dishonest act by you or a person with whom you're in collusion
Loss from, or related to, impairment due to alcohol
Acts of war
Going to a country with a "Do not travel" warning from the government

Travel Protect offers 2 straightforward travel insurance policies. By choosing its Explorer policy, you'll have plenty of options to boost your cover (for an added fee). This includes cruise, ski and motorcycle insurance packs. Keep in mind you must set your own trip cancellation, personal liability and luggage cover limits – among others. Remember to fix these at amounts which will bring you plenty of peace of mind ahead of your travels.
Even if you've not yet heard of Travel Protect, it's good to know they've partnered with the tech platform battleface, which is active in more than 185 countries globally.
Travel Protect is a Queensland-based travel insurance provider (owned by WAS). Its website says it is partnered with Battleface Insurance Services.
Travel Protect's policies are underwritten by Pacific International Insurance Pty Ltd, a long-established Australasian insurer.
While some pre-existing conditions are covered automatically, others aren't. Essentially, if a condition isn't specifically called out in the policy, then it'll be excluded. Contact Travel Protect directly if you've any doubt about what you're covered for.
