MyCard complimentary credit card insurance

MyCard credit cards come with complimentary purchase protection and extended warranty insurance policies. Some cards also come with travel insurance cover too.

What types of insurance do MyCard credit cards offer?

MyCard offers 3 types of cover on its credit cards. Note that not every credit card comes with complimentary travel insurance.

  • Complimentary travel insurance. Eligible cardholders can get both domestic and international travel insurance plus rental vehicle excess insurance.
  • Complimentary purchase protection insurance. If you purchase eligible items via your MyCard credit card you can get covered for 90 days from the purchase, in cases of theft, accidental damage or permanent loss.
  • Complimentary extended warranty insurance. You can get covered if an item you purchase with your credit card breaks down within a 12 month period from purchase.

Domestic travel insurance eligibility

You're eligible for domestic travel insurance cover when you live in Australia and use an eligible MyCard credit card to either cover the entire cost a return domestic flight or prepay at least $250 of travel costs (and have a return ticket).

International travel insurance eligibility and cover

You're eligible for international travel insurance cover when you live in Australia and use an eligible MyCard credit card to cover at least $500 of prepaid travel costs and hold a return overseas ticket before leaving Australia.

You'll also need to be under the age of 81.

If you're traveling together with a spouse or dependents they'll be covered if they reside in Australia, have return overseas tickets and are under 81.

Which credit cards have travel insurance cover?

MyCard complimentary purchase protection insurance

All MyCard credit cards offer complimentary purchase protection insurance cover. This is a type of insurance that covers you when an item you purchase with your credit card is stolen, lost or damaged.

MyCard's complimentary purchase protection insurance covers you for 90 days from the date of purchase.

You'll be covered for the original purchase price of the item. In the case of jewellery, art or watches there's a limit of $5,000 per claim.

The total limit for all claims is $200,000 within 12 months.

MyCard complimentary extended warranty insurance

All MyCard credit cards also offer complimentary extended warranty insurance. This is a type of insurance gives you an extra year's warranty after any manufacturer's warranty expires.

You need to purchase the item using a MyCard credit card.

With MyCard's cover this doesn't apply if the original warranty lasts longer than 5 years. Cover is limited to the purchase price, up to $10,000 per item. There's a maximum total limit of $40,000 per card per year.
