Important Information

As of the 1st of August 2014, Investec Bank (Australia) Limited was acquired by Bank of Queensland (BOQ) and rebranded as BOQ Specialist. Investec no longer issues credit cards in Australia.

Investec offers a wide range of financial services to clients in Australia, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. The first Investec office in Australia was opened in 1997 and it has grown significantly since then. The company offers advisory services, investment products, and banking services to corporates, institutional investors and private clients.

Their private banking division provides services related to everyday banking, credit cards, off balance sheet lending solutions, and specialised investment offerings. Investec is renowned for offering tailored services to their clients.

Investec Credit Card overview

Investec credit cards are renowned for the benefits they offer. In Australia they partner with Qantas to provide cardholders with points and benefits whenever you use the card. The bank offers only two credit cards, both of which are premium cards: the Signature and Platinum.

Signature credit card

This credit card comes with a range of benefits. The most important to many seeking a premium card is that it earns uncapped Qantas Points, and does so at the rate of:

  • 1 point for every $1 spent on eligible purchases in Australia
  • 2 points for every $1 spent on eligible international purchases
  • One additional point for every $1 spent on eligible Qantas products in Australia

It also comes with complimentary international travel insurance, extended warranty on certain products, golfer's insurance, domestic and international rental car excess cover, purchase security and transport accident insurance.

You also get the ability to use the Visa concierge service to save you time and money, and get access to a complimentary membership with Priority Pass, which gets you and a guest into over 600 VIP airport lounges around the world. This entitles cardholders to complimentary access to The Visa Luxury Hotels Collection. Cardholders also have access to Front Line Visa Entertainment.

Platinum credit card

The Platinum credit card offers most of the features standard with the Signature credit card. The only differences being the earn rate for uncapped Qantas Points is lower and some of the extra features such as Priority Pass membership are missing. With the Platinum credit card you'll earn:

  • 1 point for every $2 spent on eligible purchases in Australia
  • 1 point per $1 you spend on international purchases
  • One additional point per dollar spent on selected Qantas products and services in Australia

It also grants cardholders the suite of complimentary insurance policies that the Signature offers.

      Hi JS,

      Thanks for your question.

Unfortunately that type of information isn’t available to the public as it is part of the corporation’s strategy.

You may want to have a look through their 2013 Annual Report on page 12-15, it gives some insights to their strategy focus.

      Cheers,
      Shirley
