What you need to know:
- ANZ credit cards with complimentary international travel insurance offer comprehensive cover for up to 3 or 6 consecutive months when you travel overseas.
- You'll get cover when you meet the requirements before travelling, noting cover is usually only available to those aged under 81.
- Your spouse and dependants travelling with you can also get cover, but there are some requirements and exclusions.

From reading a previous response regarding the cut-off age for cover using my Platinum ANZ Credit Card, can you confirm that as long as I book my travel whilst I’m 80 years old, I will be covered by insurance even if my by return date I have had my 81st birthday?
Hi Shirley,
Thank you for contacting Finder.
No, you need to be 80 years old or lower once you have activated the Complimentary Travel Insurance which means once you depart Australia since this will be the basis of the start of your policy. According to the Terms and Conditions, your policy will start upon you depart in Australia and will end upon your return.
I hope this helps.
Please do not hesitate to reach out again to us if you have additional questions.

I have had a ANZ platinum card for many years and have never claimed anything on the free travel insurance. I will be 80 next year and am in good health. Is my travel insurance still applicable after I reach 80 years old.
Hi Roland,
Thanks for getting in touch!
I checked our pages and it shows that the age limit for the ANZ credit card is 80 years of age or under on the day you activated the insurance policy. If you are still looking for travel insurance options, you may enter your travel details in our seniors travel insurance quote engine. This will allow you to compare quotes from different insurers. As a friendly reminder, carefully review the Product Disclosure Statement of the product before applying. You may also contact the insurance provider should you have any questions about their policy.
Hope this was helpful. Don’t hesitate to message us back if you have more questions.
Best,
Nikki
When do I notify the of my trip and what information is required?
Hi Mary Ellen,
Thanks for your question. Providing you meet the conditions as set on the part of our page that says “What are the eligibility requirements?”, your cover will be automatically activated before your trip. If you have questions about these requirements, or want to get a letter of eligibility for your insurance, you can call Allianz on 1300 135 271. You can also use the eligibility tool on the ANZ website to see if you’re covered.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Nikki
Hi,
I am travelling to USA. I have a Visa Platinum card. I have booked my flight and car rental on that card, cost more that $250, so I assume I am automatically covered. I would like to clarify that car rental exceess (up to $5000) is covered. It’s unclear from the above, as it says car rental for cars rented in Australia. Is it also covered overseas?
Hi Mick,
Thank you for contacting Finder.
The Rental Excess coverage is indeed for a rental vehicle registered in Australia and its offshore (including its external territories).
I hope this helps.
Please do not hesitate to reach out again to us if you have additional questions.

I need a letter stating my travel overseas. I have a platinum card. How do I go about this?
Thanks!
Judy
Hi Judy,
Thank you for getting in touch with Finder.
Please note that ANZ complimentary travel insurance is underwritten by Allianz Australia Insurance. Kindly reach them out if you need proof of covering your overseas trip.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
