BOQ Q Rewards

Q Rewards is Bank of Queensland's rewards program. You can earn points with a BOQ Blue Visa or Platinum Visa credit card and redeem them for cashbacks, gift cards or transfer to Flybuys or Velocity Points.

The Bank of Queensland (BOQ) Q Rewards is a credit cards reward program for cardholders with a BOQ Blue Visa Credit Card or BOQ Platinum Visa Credit Card. Q Rewards Points can be redeemed as a cashback reward to your account or applied as a credit for selected purchases through Pay with Points. You can also redeem points for gift cards from a wide range of retailers, or convert them to Flybuys or Velocity Frequent Flyer points.

How can I earn BOQ rewards points with a credit card?

You'll earn Q Rewards points at the following rates for each $1 of eligible spending when you have one of these BOQ credit cards:

🔥Tip: Look for introductory bonus point offers on BOQ credit cards if you're not a customer yet. They can give you hundreds and thousands of Q Rewards Points when you first get a card and meet the requirements.

What counts as eligible spending?

You can earn BOQ Q Rewards points when you make an eligible transaction. This covers most purchases except for exclusions like cash advances, balance transfers, special promotions, BPAY payments, government-related transactions, and purchases of foreign currency.

Check BOQ's terms and conditions (pdf) for the full exclusions list.

What can I redeem Q Rewards points for?

You can redeem your Q Rewards points balance by logging into your myBOQ app.

  • Flybuys transfers. You can transfer Q Rewards points to Flybuys by linking your accounts. The transfer rate and other details are not publicly available, so log in to see full details.
  • Velocity Points transfers. If you have a BOQ Platinum Visa credit card, you can transfer points to Velocity Frequent Flyer at a rate of 3 Q Rewards points for 1 Velocity Point. You can transfer a minimum of 30,000 Q Rewards points per transfer.
  • Cashback options. When you use your credit card to pay for eligible purchases, you can receive a statement credit back to your account. You can also use points to pay your annual card fee.
  • Digital gift cards. You can redeem points for gift cards with partner brands.

How much are Q Rewards points worth?

There is no clear fixed dollar value for BOQ Q Rewards Points. It largely depends on what you redeem them for.

Rewards have different values, and the BOQ Q Rewards website does not publicly list the points needed for all of them. So you'll need to have an account and login to see details.

You can also calculate the value of your points for different types of rewards, or get an estimate of the value with Finder's points calculator.

How to redeem BOQ Q Rewards points

To redeem Q Rewards, open the Q Rewards Portal and select the Redeem option next to the transaction you want. If your account is eligible, you can view your balance, track your rewards, and manage how you redeem them through the myBOQ app, since Q Rewards balances no longer appear on your statement. If you do not have access to the myBOQ app, you can contact BOQ for assistance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get an additional card and does it attract a fee?

You can get up to 4 additional cards for free with your Platinum Visa card. If you have the Blue Visa card, you can get an additional card by paying an additional card fee of $15. The primary cardholder is responsible for the additional cards and any points earned with these cards will accumulate in the one Q Rewards account.

Are Q Rewards points capped?

There is no cap on the number of Q Rewards points you can earn.

How do I transfer Q Rewards points?

At the moment, BOQ allows eligible Platinum Visa cardholders to convert Q Rewards points to partner loyalty programs, such as Flybuys or Velocity Frequent Flyer. However, BOQ does not provide a publicly available step-by-step guide for doing this directly in the myBOQ app.

I was promised if I paid for accommodation I was claiming points for my credit card would be credited within a fortnight. I booked this on the 22nd October, have brought this to your attention, promised I would have a credit of $730 put through on my card and this still hasn’t happened. What is the problem?

      Hi Deborah,

      Thanks for your question.

BoQ use a different website for their cardholders to redeem rewards. I’ve emailed you the link for this.

      Cheers,

      Hi David,

      Thanks for your question.

You have a lot of options including: travel, fitness, shopping vouchers, electronics and home wares. You get a Mystery Package at a 4 star hotel for 1 night or a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

      Cheers,
      Shirley

How do I check how many points I have?

      Hi, Marion.

There should be a summary of your points activity on your monthly credit card statement. Alternatively, you can check your points balance and redeem for rewards through your internet banking facility. According to the Bank of Queensland website, you’ll need to “Log on to Internet Banking, select your credit card from your accounts list, then “Q Rewards® / Other Card Functions” and then click on Q Rewards® to view your points balance, browse the latest online catalogue and to redeem items.”

      I hope this helps.

      Hi Diane.

      Thanks for your question.

To access Q Rewards, you’ll need to log into your internet banking facility through the Bank of Queensland website. If you haven’t already registered for internet banking, you’ll need to do so before you can log in. This can be done by calling the Bank of Queensland customer service team.

      I hope this helps.
