How do I make a claim with National Seniors Travel Insurance?

If you need to file a claim, here are the steps that will get the process started.

  • Be proactive. Get in touch with your insurer within 30 days of your return date. You can download the claims form from the Cerberus website or request one on the phone.
  • Attach the relevant documents. You'll need supporting evidence, which can include medical and police reports, proof or purchase, original receipts, luggage tickets, and written statements from transport carriers.

National Seniors Insurance FAQ

  • What are the age limits for this policy?
    • The International Basic and Frequent Traveller Plans are available to travellers 75 years of age and under, while the International Premium and Australia Only Plans don’t have an age limit. Travellers aged 81 and over have to be medically assessed before cover is granted.
  • When can I buy this policy?
    • The International Premium, International Basic and Australia Only policies can be purchased up to 12 months before your journey commences. The Frequent Traveller policy can be bought 30 days before the 12-month period begins.
  • Can I extend my policy?
    • You can apply to extend the International Premium and International Basic for up to 12 months and the Australia Only plan up to six months. Conditions apply, so make sure that you meet the criteria before applying for an extension.
  • Can I make changes to my policy?
    • If you need to make changes to your policy, get in touch with Natural Seniors Insurance so it can change the cover or issue a new policy. In each case, you will receive a new Certificate of Insurance.
  • How are my claim payments calculated?
    • All claims are paid in Australian dollars at the exchange rate in effect at the time of the incident. Excess will be deducted from the amount paid to you. Compensation of luggage and personal effects is subject to a rate of depreciation that will be determined by your insurer.
  • Who underwrites National Seniors insurance?
    • National Seniors travel insurance policies are underwritten by Cerberus, an Australian financial services licensee that will handle and administer the policy on your behalf.
  • Can I cancel my National Seniors insurance policy if I’m not happy with it?
    • You have a cooling-off period of 14 days during which you can cancel your policy and receive a full refund.
