How to earn Qantas Points on business bills with B2Bpay
Collect Qantas Points and credit card rewards on all business expenses and bills.
Want to reward your business for every dollar spent on bills and invoices? This is where B2Bpay could help. Partnered with Qantas Business Rewards, you can earn both Qantas Points and credit card rewards on business credit card transactions when you pay through the online portal. This gives you a way to earn reward points per $1 you spend, even if the biller doesn’t accept credit card or it isn’t usually considered an eligible transaction to earn points.
You can use this guide to discover how B2Bpay works and how it can reward your business spending.
What is B2Bpay?
B2Bpay is a secure online payment portal that SMEs (small to medium businesses) can use to pay their invoices, bills and other expenses using their credit cards. This means that even if your biller doesn’t usually accept credit card payments, you can still use your plastic to pay as they’ll receive it by EFT or BPAY.
You can set up and start using your B2Bpay account in three simple steps:
- Register your business (you must have a registered ABN to do this).
- Set up your payments by selecting your billers and nominating the cards you’d like to use for payments.
- Organise and schedule payments, whether one-off, automatic or future-dated transactions.
B2Bpay will transfer the funds to your billers by EFT or BPAY at no cost to them within three business days.
As well as earning points, you can load as many cards into the portal as you wish, so it could help centralise your expense management system if your employees are using more than one credit card to make payments.
How to earn points with B2Bpay
Credit card rewards
When you use your credit card to cover business costs, these transactions aren’t always eligible to earn points. But if you pay with B2Bpay, you’ll earn full reward points from your card issuer on all business expenses. Let’s say that your card offers 1 reward point per $1 spent on eligible purchases but no points on government transactions and utilities. If you use B2Bpay to pay your ATO bill, you’ll earn the standard 1 point per $1 spent rather than no points.
Although many personal credit cards don’t allow cardholders to earn points on business spending or BPAY transactions, you should be able to earn points if the payments are processed via BPAY with most business cards. However, B2Bpay has designed its transaction process so that your payments won’t be treated as cash advances, so you may be able to earn points on all business-related purchases made with your personal card as well.
If your business has a Qantas Business Rewards account you’ll also earn 1 Qantas Point for every $100 paid on top of your standard earn rate. Plus, you can earn up to 3 Qantas Points for every $1.50 spent with “Bonus Billers”. You can compare the partnered Bonus Billers to maximise your points and can sort through the list by industry or business type.
These points will be debited to your Qantas Business Rewards account, which you can redeem or transfer to individual Qantas Frequent Flyer accounts once you earn at least 3,000 points. If you haven’t already joined Qantas Business Rewards, you can sign up online and avoid the regular $99.50 joining fee.
Earn 10,000 bonus Qantas Points when you sign up
If you sign up and spend $10,000 or more by 31 July 2018, you’ll score 10,000 bonus Qantas Points! Combining the bonus points and standard earn rate, you could earn at least 10,100 Qantas Points if you take advantage of this bonus points offer.
How much does B2Bpay cost?
There are no costs to join B2Bpay, but there are some card processing fees involved. You can expect the following fees depending on the card you’re using:
- Visa/Mastercard standard cards: 1.2% (after company tax deduction: 0.84%)
- American Express and Diners Club cards: 2.4% (after tax deduction: 1.68%)
- International cards: 2.73% (after tax deduction: 1.91%)
These fees may seem small, but you should consider them in conjunction with the other costs that come with using your credit card and the value of the rewards you could redeem with the points you’ll earn.
Is it safe to use B2Bpay?
B2Bpay is a secure way to manage your expenses online. Your card information is tokenised, so card numbers are never stored in full on your account. Plus, your transactions will be protected by the usual covers offered by your card issuer.
B2Bpay could be a great way to manage your SME costs and earn points on business transactions you usually can’t receive rewards for. However, make sure to consider the partnered billers and card processing fees to determine whether benefits outweigh the costs and the limitations of the payment portal.
