Our verdict

Offers 50,000 bonus Qantas Points and complimentary frequent flyer membership, with a $299 annual fee.

The G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card is suited to people who want to earn Qantas Points with a credit card. It currently offers 50,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $5,000 in the first 90 days as a new cardholder – enough for a one-way business class flight from Sydney to Auckland (41,500 Qantas Points plus fees and taxes). Its earn rate of 1 Qantas Point per $1 is competitive, even with the 20,000 monthly points cap. And unlike most Qantas Point-earning credit cards, you also get an annual 10,000 bonus Qantas Points.

Pros

  • 50,000 bonus Qantas Points
  • 10,000 bonus Qantas Points yearly
  • Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 on eligible spending, plus 1 additional point per $1 on select Qantas spending.
  • Platinum perks, including hotel rewards and a personal concierge

Cons

  • The standard annual fee of $299 p.a. is relatively high.
