Our verdict

Pros

  • Get car insurance specifically designed for electric vehicles.
  • Pay-per-kilometre cover is great for anyone who doesn't drive very much.
  • Uber Carshare drivers can get cover designed specifically for them.

Cons

  • If you're looking for run-of-the-mill cover, KOBA might not be for you.
  • There's no option to choose third party or third party fire and theft cover.
  • KOBA only insures cars from 2006 onwards.

How does KOBA compare with other car insurers?

KOBA is different from many other car insurers - it only offers three policies and all are comprehensive. It's also unable to offer cover to cars made before 2006, as you'll need to connect your car's computer with your policy.

Drivers who travel smaller distances and are looking for cheap car insurance may like to consider these options.

Hi Terena, younger drivers are typically harder to insure because they’re seen as more risky to insurers but if your son has a clean driving record then it should still be achievable. You might find this page more helpful: https://www.finder.com.au/car-insurance-for-p-platers
    I hope this helps!
