RACV roadside assistance review

RACV’s roadside assistance offers premium cover with strong benefits - but the price point may put some drivers off.

Our verdict

Pros

  • Unlimited call outs and no joining fee on all levels of RACV cover
  • Up to $2,400 in benefits per incident, if you're over 100km from home
  • Total Care also covers bicycles, ebikes, mobility scooters, and electric wheelchairs

Cons

  • RACQ's to policy, Total Care, costs $296 a year - more than many other brands
  • Maximum of 100km towing, even in rural and regional areas
  • Policies are only available to drivers living in Victoria or in a Victorian border town

RACV's cover is stronger than many other roadside assistance brands, but drivers will have to pay higher premiums for the higher-end benefits.

      Hi George,

Yes, your membership entitles you to members pricing when booking RACV resorts. The exact discount depends on the resort and the terms of conditions that apply at the time of booking, but it is usually around 10%.

RACV Members may also be entitled to enjoy additional benefits such as a bottle of wine, free in-room movies or additional $50 resort credits, depending on the promotion you book.

      Hope this helps!
