Our verdict

Pros

  • You can save 17% on your premium if you pay annually.
  • Stella's comprehensive car insurance policy includes a new car replacement if yours is written off in the first 3 years of registration. Other insurers cap this at the first 2 years.
  • Stella will waive the excess if your car is damaged in a domestic violence incident - check the PDS for full details.

Cons

  • We compared 37 comprehensive car insurance policies. On average, 29 brands offered cheaper comprehensive cover than Stella.
  • Stella's product disclosure statement includes vague terminology like 'reasonable costs'. This makes it difficult to know exactly what exactly you're covered for.
  • Some common customisations aren't available. For example, you can't choose your own repairer and you can only insure your car for agreed value, not market.

Price

We compared hundreds of quotes from 37 different car insurance brands. On average, Stella was among the most expensive, with 29 brands offering cheaper car insurance. See how Stella stacks up below. Keep in mind, quotes depend on your personal circumstances so your own will differ to those below. This has been based on a fictional driver profile.
