Do you get Qantas points when paying ATO with BankSA Amplify Signature Card ?

    • Default Gravatar
      JoelFebruary 28, 2018

      Hi Asha,

Thanks for leaving a question on finder.

Since ATO is a government transaction, you will not get points when make transactions there. While Amplify Points are earned when you purchase goods and services, please note that Amplify Points are not earned in respect of the following amounts that may be charged to your Card Account:

      • government charges (other than GST payable in connection with the purchase of goods or services on which you earn Amplify Points)
      • interest and other bank fees and charges (including any GST payable on any of these)
      • cash advances
      • balance transfers
      • BPAY payments, i.e. bill payments and other payments made through the BPAY Electronic Payments Scheme.

Also, if you (or an Additional Cardholder) return any goods or services purchased with the Card or Card Account, or your Card Account is credited in connection with a disputed transaction, St.George will adjust the Amplify Points total earned by deducting any Amplify Points, which were earned in connection with the original or disputed transaction.

      Cheers,
      Joel

This add says a new cardholder receives 90,000 bonus Amplify or Qantas points if they apply by 18 April 2018 and meet the spend requirements. Can you please confirm the QANTAS points transferred are 90,000?
    Thank you.

Hi! With regards to Qantas FF points, your site mentions we can redeem over 3,000 products, vouchers and experiences on offer under the program but you haven’t actually specified flights. Just to get clarification, are points earned able to be used for flights too?

I was wondering which is the better value. Amplify rewards or Qantas rewards. Although amplify rewards gives me 1.5 points for every $ spent and Qantas gives only .75 points. I get the impression that when I compare the same product on both, although qantas gives lower points for $ spent the redemption of points is better value than Amplify rewards. e.g if an item on Amplify Rewards is say 50000 points in value, the qantas rewards for the same product may only be 30000 points. Does this make sense to any one or am I wrong?

      Hi Lui,

      Thank you for your inquiry.

Determining whether who gives a better value between the Amplify and Qantas program actually depends on your preferences and needs and what you think how you could use the rewards they offer. You are actually correct, that in terms of earning points, the Amplify Rewards will allow you get a higher ratio. You can earn 1.5 Amplify Points for each eligible dollar spent at an Australian retailer and 3 Amplify points if you make purchases at an overseas merchant. Whilst the Amplify Qantas have lower earning ratio. You can earn 0.75 Qantas Points for every dollar spent ith purchases made at Australian merchants and 1.5 Qantas Points with transactions made with overseas merchants.

Please note that these points you get do not have a monetary value. So if you want to redeem your points for gift cards, retail vouchers, home wares, etc., you can go for Amplify but if you want to have access to more than 3,000 products, vouchers and experiences offered by the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, you may opt for the Amplify Qantas.

      Cheers,

    Hi,

Will the 20 months zero 0% balance transfer for a Bank of SA amplify signature card have to be applied at the time when I apply for the card( ie at the point of card application) ? Or can I do and still enjoy 0% the balance transfer later after card approval?

      MayMay 23, 2016Staff

      Hi Peter,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

With BankSA, you can request a balance transfer when you apply for your credit card and they will arrange to transfer the balance for you. Once your card application is approved, you have to activate your BankSA card for the balance transfer to take place. If you take advantage of a promotional balance transfer rate offer, the period starts when the balance is transferred.

Hope this has answered your question.

      Cheers,
      May

Is the information about the qantas reward points correct for the BankSA Amplify Signature Card. It states 1.50 qantas points for every $ spent. Should this be 0.75 points?
