BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card review

The BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card is designed to make it easier for businesses to manage their finances under one account, with expense tracking features and up to 3 additional cardholders. The BankSA Amplify Business card also makes it easy to track and record expenses, with the option to export data directly to MYOB, BAS and Microsoft Excel. Other business benefits include complimentary business inconvenience and unauthorised transaction insurance for the account holder, and transit accident insurance for each cardholder. Cardholders also have a choice of either Amplify Rewards or Amplify Qantas and can earn rewards points for every dollar they spend.

Benefits of the BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card

  • Rewards. BankSA Amplify Business cardholders have their choice of opting into either Amplify Rewards or Amplify Qantas rewards. If you choose Amplify Rewards, you'll earn 2 points per $1 with international merchants, 1 point per $1 spent with Australian merchants and 0.5 points per $1 for government charges (including ATO payments). Amplify Qantas offers 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent with international merchants, 0.5 points per $1 spent with Australian merchants and 0.25 points per $1 for government charges. Note that you will need to be an existing Qantas Frequent Flyer member, or sign up to become a Qantas member before you can earn Amplify Qantas rewards.
  • 0% purchase rate for 12 months. If you apply for the BankSA Amplify Business credit card by 30 June 2017, you won't have to pay any interest on all eligible purchases for the first 12 months. The purchase rate reverts to 19.49% p.a. at the end of the promotional period.
  • Waived annual fee. Cardholders who apply and are approved by 30 June 2017 can save with a $0 annual fee for the first year. The standard annual fee of $89 will be debited to your account 12 months from your first transaction and annually thereafter on the anniversary of the first annual fee.
  • Uncapped rewards. There is no points cap when you enroll in either the Amplify Rewards or Amplify Qantas program and use this card to pay for purchases.
  • Simplified tax reporting. This account allows you to directly export expense data into MYOB or BAS. Transactions can also be downloaded into Microsoft Excel.
  • Complimentary business inconvenience insurance. This card offers complimentary coverage for a range of situations including business premise invasion, recruitment costs and temporary replacement of employees.
  • Unauthorised transaction insurance. This insurance covers you against unauthorised transactions made by additional cardholders for your BankSA Amplify Business credit card account.
  • Transit accident insurance. This cover provides accidental death and injury cover for cardholders who sustain an injury as a passenger on a plane, bus or ferry while they are overseas. To get coverage, cardholders must pay for the entire trip on their BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card before leaving Australia. The insurance is also extended to spouses, providing the terms and conditions are met.
  • Interest-free days. Pay your account balance in full by the due date each statement cycle to get up to 55 days interest-free on new purchases.

  • Purchase rate. This card has a standard variable interest rate of 19.49% p.a. for purchases if you carry a balance.
  • Cash advance rate. The cash advance interest rate for this card is 20.24% p.a. (variable).
  • Annual fee. The BankSA Amplify Business credit card has an annual fee of $89.
  • Foreign transaction fee. An extra 3% is added to the total cost of any transactions made in a foreign currency or with overseas merchants.
  • Cash advance fee. This card has a 2% of the transaction or $2.50, whichever is higher.
  • Late payment fee. A $15 fee is charged for late payments on this business credit card account.
  • Over limit fee. A charge of $15 is applied if you or one of your additional cardholders goes over the available credit limit for this account.
  • Card replacement fees. This card charges $15 per card for replacement in Australia, $45 per card for emergency replacement in Australia and $52.50 per card for overseas replacement.
  • Automatic payment fee. A $9 fee is applied once per statement period for any dishonoured payments made under the automatic payment plan.
  • Statement copy fees. There is a charge of $4.50 for every statement copy request made over the phone or online, and $7.50 for all other requests.

  • Your preferred rewards program. Choosing between Amplify Rewards and Amplify Qantas is one of the first steps of the online application. If you choose to earn Qantas rewards, you will need to provide details of your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership. If your membership details are not at hand or you are not yet a member, you may contact BankSA with your details at a later date by calling the number on the back of your Amplify card (but you may not earn Qantas rewards until you complete this step).
  • Personal details. You will need to include personal details, such as your Australian driver's licence number, residential address and phone number.
  • Financial details. You’ll also need to provide details of your income and employment.
  • Business information. You will be asked for business information including your ABN or ACN, business income and expenditure, business contact information and details of your tax agent or accountant.
  • Additional cardholders. If you have employees that you wish to include as additional cardholders for this account, you will need to provide personal details including their full name/s and contact information.

After your application is approved and fully processed, you should get your business credit card (or cards) within 5-10 business days. You can then activate and start using the account for all your business spending.
