The American Express Corporate Platinum Card gives you a mix of management tools and perks, including up to 2 Membership Rewards points per $1 spent and the ability to pay almost any merchant via AccessLine – even if they don’t accept Amex.

To give you an idea of the value of rewards, the 400,000 bonus points would be enough to spend $2,000 with PayPal, Ticketek or David Jones. You can also redeem them for gift cards, statement credit, travel or point transfers to partners including Velocity Frequent Flyer and Air New Zealand Airpoints. Any additional cards you add will also earn points, which means you could pass this benefit on to employees.

This card also gives you access to airport lounges around the world through Amex’s Centurion Lounge Network, instant Gold Elite Status with the Marriott Bonvoy hotel loyalty program and complimentary travel insurance for domestic and international business trips. Its real-time management features and reporting tools also mean your company has oversight and control over spending, budgets and financial management across the board.

How to apply

You can apply for the American Express Corporate Platinum Card by selecting the “Speak to a specialist” option on the Amex website and filling in the request form. Someone from the American Express corporate card team will then contact you at a suitable time.

Before you get started, make sure you meet the requirements and have all the details you need on hand.

Eligibility criteria

New card member. The bonus points offer is only available to companies who don't have a current American Express Corporate Card or American Express Qantas Corporate Card and haven't had one in the last 18 months.
Business Revenue. Your annual business revenue must be at least $10 million.

Valid ABN. This charge card requires your business to have a valid ABN and be registered for GST.
Credit History. You must have a good credit history and no payment defaults.
Residency. Citizens and permanent residents of Australia are eligible to apply.
Age. You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for a credit card.

Required documents

Personal details. You'll need to include details like your full name, email address, contact number and residential address.
Proof of identity. This includes your Australian driver's licence, Medicare card or passport.
Business details. This includes your business name and annual business revenue.
Financial details. You'll be asked to include your business's ABN as well as proof of personal income and business turnover including recent payslips and bank statements.

Card benefits

400,000 bonus points. The American Express Corporate Platinum Card offers 400,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you apply by 18 May 2022 and spend $50,000 in the first 2 months from card approval. This offer only applies for the first card that is approved for a company and only if the company has not had any other Amex Corporate Cards in the past 18 months.
Membership Rewards. This card earns 2 points per $1 spent – except for spending with government bodies, which earns 1 point per $1 spent. Points can be redeemed for rewards including credit on the account, gift cards, travel bookings and shopping with David Jones, PayPal and Ticketmaster. You can also transfer your points to 9 different frequent flyer and loyalty program partners, including Velocity Frequent Flyer and Air New Zealand Airpoints.

Airport lounge access. You'll get access to over 1,200 lounges at airports around the world, including Priority Pass lounges, the Centurion Lounge and International American Express Lounges. Any employees with cards linked to this account will also get lounge access.
Hotel benefits. This card gives you complimentary Gold Elite status with the Marriott Bonvoy hotel loyalty program, with perks available at over 6,500 properties around the world. It also offers savings on luxury accommodation when you use it to book stays with Fine Hotels + Resorts and the Hotel Collection.
Hertz and Avis benefits. You can get exclusive car rental savings and upgrades internationally with both Hertz and Avis. To get the perks, you'll need to book with your Amex card and enrol in Hertz Gold Plus Rewards and Avis Preferred.
Travel insurance cover. This card offers complimentary domestic and international travel insurance for you and your employees when you use it to book a return trip. This includes travel accident cover, unlimited medical emergency expenses cover, baggage and personal possessions cover and travel inconvenience cover for delays and missed connections. The Australian Premium complimentary subscription. The American Express Corporate Platinum Card gives you a yearly digital subscription that includes access to The Australian, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist and Harvard Business Review.
Platinum concierge services. You'll have 24-hour access to the American Express Platinum Concierge service and Platinum Travel Services team, which can help you with tasks such as hiring a venue, sourcing equipment, booking travel and answering questions about your account.
American Express AccessLine. Available to American Express business and corporate members, this payment platform gives you a fast and secure way to pay merchants around the world – even if they don't accept credit or charge cards.
Expense and account management tools. Keep track of expenses, check policy compliance and create a range of reports through the American Express @ Work online platform. If you use Concur for expense claims, you can also link your account to speed up the process.
Mobile contactless payments. You can add these cards to Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay to make payments straight from your mobile phone or device.

Rates & fees

Annual fee. The American Express Corporate Platinum Card has an annual fee of $800.
Spending limit. This card has no pre-set spending limit. Instead, purchases will be approved based on different factors including your current spending patterns, payment history and credit record.

Repayments. This charge card has up to 51 days to pay off purchases. The total number of days you have to settle payments is calculated based on when you make a purchase, when your statement is issued and whether you are carrying forward a balance on your account from your previous statement period.
Account liability options. You can set up this account with liability for business charges only or for all charges made on cards that are linked to the account. Note that you'll be protected against unauthorised transactions regardless of which liability option you choose.
Security features. As well as cover for unauthorised transactions, this card offers online fraud protection and worldwide emergency card replacement within 48 hours.
