There are a few ways to claim on your Medibank health insurance policy.
Online: Register and log in to Medibank or use the MyMedibank app. Select 'Make a claim' and follow the instructions. Medibank will pay any benefits directly into your bank account.
Membership card: If you have your membership card with you, you may be able to claim extras benefits on the spot from your healthcare provider.
By phone: If you have an Android phone, you can use your digital card in the My Medibank app to tap and claim at extras providers with a HICAPS machine.
In store: Visit a Medibank store with your completed claim form and the original invoices or receipts.

Looking at the most recent Private Health Insurance Ombudsman complaints data, Medibank did quite well. Medibank (along with ahm) received a lower number of complaints than its market share. Specifically it got 17.9% of all complaints, with a 26.7% market share. A decent part of that performance is down to the fact that Defence Health had a shocker of a year, racking up a whopping 31.6% of all complaints with just 2% market share! This was because of a disastrous system malfunction in 2023.
That said, Medibank still has a better complaints record than most of the big health funds, with only hbf having a lower complaints ratio. This is a big improvement from the year before, which was marred for Medibank due to the number of complaints that came in after the company was the victim of a massive hack that compromised member's personal information.
