see-u is part of popular non profit insurer HBF. Previous known as CUA, see-u offers a simple, no nonsense set of products aimed at younger Aussies.

Pros

  • Members get extra discounts at some optical providers including OPSM and Specsavers
  • see-u's parent company, HBF, has an excellent complaints record
  • see-u's call centre is Australian-based

Cons

  • There are only three extras policies to choose from, which doesn't give you many options
  • see-u doesn't offer a gold hospital policy, so you can't get cover for pregnancy and birth, reproductive services or weight loss surgery

How to make a claim

For extras claims, you can claim in person at most healthcare providers by swiping your member card - your CUA card should still work.

You can also claim via your phone using the CUA or see-u app or can claim online by logging into Member Services.

For hospital claims, any medical bills you receive should be submitted to Medicare along with a two-way claim form. This will then be sent to see-u for processing. All you will need to pay is your co-payment or excess.

Complaints info

see-u's parent company, HBF, has an excellent complaints record. According to the 2024 State of the Health Funds Report, HBF has 7.7% market share but only accounted for 3.7% of complaints received by the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
