Our verdict

Pros

  • Qantas's comprehensive policy offers a similar level of coverage to more expensive insurers, yet remains comparatively cheap.
  • Out of 30 comprehensive policies we analysed, it's one of the cheapest.
  • Qantas often runs sign-up bonuses where new customers can earn thousands of Qantas Points just for switching.

Cons

  • While there are plenty of options to add to your policy, these will cost extra. Benefits like reduced excess windscreen damage will cost more with Qantas but are included as standard with other insurers like Australia Post.
  • Qantas's personal effects benefit covers up to $750. Other insurers can cover up to $1,000.
  • If you choose to cancel your policy early, you may be charged a fee of $40. Some other insurers don't charge any cancellation fees.
