Finder Score for car insurance
We analyse over 30 car insurance products across insurance providers, and rate each one for price and features. We collect up to 36 quotes per product, for male and female drivers in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia. Quotes are collected for 20 year olds, 30 year olds and 60 year olds, assuming an excess of $850 for a 2020 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan model, with an average 15,000 kms driven each year. We use your responses to our quiz to pair you with the closest price profile and while we are not allowed to display actual quotes, our price score aims to serve as an indicative guide to how cost competitive a product might be for you.
Our feature score assesses each product for more than 15 features across loss and damage coverage, repairs and assistance coverage, personal items coverage and policy coverage. Features we assess include but are not limited to legal liability, essential repairs, new car replacement, car hire events, roadside assistance, agreed or market value, windscreen damage and natural disaster coverage.
Depending on your answers to our car insurance quiz, we upweight the relevant price score or feature score to generate a dynamic Finder Score (80% weighting on the primary selection between Price or Feature). Finder Score, Price Score and Feature Score are only to be used as indicative guides and are not product recommendations.

All the protection of Comprehensive, with extra benefits including a hire car as standard, if your car can't be driven due to an insured incident. Excess-free glass cover is also included, along with taxi fares of up to $250 if your car can't be driven after a covered accident.
Covers your car for accidental damage, collision or crash, vandalism, theft, fire and severe weather. You'll also get a new replacement car if yours is written off within its first two years, tools of trade are covered up to and emergency repairs are covered Up to $800.
This covers you for accidental damage to your own car, fire, theft and a few other benefits. It's a basic level of cover so the benefit limits are lower.
All the protection of Third Party Property Damage, plus cover for your car if it's stolen or catches fire. You'll also be able to claim for hire care costs after a theft or attempted theft. Be aware, theft and fire expenses are only covered up to $10,000.
A basic level of protection covering you for accidental damage to other people's cars or property. You're also covered for towing costs and any damage to your car if the accident was caused by an uninsured driver.
Mandatory for NSW motorists, you need CTP insurance before you can register your vehicle. CTP covers medical costs for people injured in road accidents. It doesn't offer any cover for your property or vehicle - only injuries.
The specific benefits of this bespoke cover depend on a vehicle's make and model, as well as any special features it might have. Cars can be covered for wedding hire, special occasions, hobbies or recreation, but not if you use it regularly or drive it more than 9,000km a year.

Hi there,
Does NRMA comprehensive insurance cover a rental car in the USA?
Thanks Martin…
Hi Marty,
Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, you will not be covered by your NRMA insurance while driving overseas. However, a travel insurance policy would cover you for driving while overseas. Please have a look at travel insurance guide to the USA.
I hope this was helpful,
Richard
Hi, I have a question about some information that was given to me by a friend and I just wanted to confirm if it is correct! I would like to know if NRMA has anything to do with SWANN INSURANCE? if they have a partnership?
Would really appreciate the feedback.

Hi, I would like to ask that how much extra cost I have to pay if I upgrade my Comprehensive insurance with 14 days car hire to Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance with unlimited car hire option.
Looking forward to receiving your reply.
Hi Min,
Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, finder.com.au is a comparison website and so I am unable to give you a definitive answer as to how much it would cost to upgrade your policy. However, if you would like to get in contact with the NRMA, one of their consultants will be able to give you an answer.
You can contact them either by phone on 132 132 or via email by following this link and submitting your question on their contact us page.
I hope this was helpful,

I just got a car insurance policy which I chose to pay annually. Now I want to shift to the monthly payment. How can I know the monthly installment amount so that I can make a final decision.
Hi Susan,
Thanks for your question.
Unfortunately we don’t have access to any personal information related to NRMA accounts.
