What is NBN 750?
NBN offers several different speed tiers, which determine the speed of your internet connection and how much you end up paying.
NBN 750 is the latest 'Superfast' tier, introduced through NBN's September 2025 speed upgrades program.
As part of this upgrade, NBN 250 became 3 times faster at no extra cost, and is now being phased out.
That's why you'll see most providers only offering NBN 750 plans.
How fast is NBN 750?
The maximum speed you can get on an NBN 750 plan is 750Mbps download and 50Mbps upload.
The only exception is Future Broadband, which offers a 750Mbps download and 100Mbps upload speeds.
Let's say you're trying to download a large video game - around 100GB in size.
Here's how download times for faster NBN plans can take if you're getting the maximum speeds available:
| NBN speed tier | Download time |
|---|---|
| NBN 100 | 2 hours 16 minutes |
| NBN 500 | 27 minutes |
| NBN 750 | 18 minutes |
| NBN 1000 | 14 minutes |
| NBN 2000 | 7 minutes |
What about typical evening speeds?
You may not always get the maximum speeds available on NBN 750.
That's why providers advertise typical evening speeds, which reflect what you might experience during the busiest hours of the day, 7-11 p.m.
Since these plans are still relatively new, not every provider is showing typical evening speeds as they need time to collect and analyse the data.

Who can sign up to an NBN 750 plan?
You'll be able to sign up if you have a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) NBN connection.
These can get the fastest NBN speeds available. Other fixed-line NBN connections can only get speeds up to NBN 100.
We fully appreciate that this may all be jargon for you. Just pop in your address in the box to find out what type of NBN connection you have.
Free NBN FTTP upgrades
NBN Co is rolling out a major fibre upgrade program through which over 10 million homes and businesses - almost 90% of the fixed-line network - will have access to the fastest speeds available.
Selected premises on the Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connection may be eligible for an upgrade. All you have to do is enter your address on NBN Co's website to find out.
Alternatively, you can check your upgrade eligibility through any provider that is part of the upgrade program - they'll display this information on their website.
This includes TPG, Optus, Telstra, Vodafone, Aussie Broadband, Superloop and more. You will need to sign up for an NBN 100 plan or faster to trigger the upgrade for free.
How much do NBN 750 plans cost?
The average price of NBN 750 plans in our database is about $110 a month as of December 2025.
However, you can get plans for under $90 a month or way cheaper for at least the first 6 months if you factor in sign-up discounts.
Do I need a new modem for an NBN 750 plan?
This will depend on the modem you currently own.
If you haven't upgraded your modem in about 5 years or more, there's a good chance it's time for a new one.
Like an older smartphone, performance can drop off with age, meaning your modem might not deliver the fastest speeds your NBN plan can handle.
You can check with your provider to see if your modem is compatible with an NBN 750 plan.
