What's changed in the latest ACCC report?

The biggest change in this report is that Telstra is down to number 9 after claiming the top spot in the last report. It's been replaced by Optus.

iiNet is now in the top 5 and Vodafone has dropped out of the list completely.

The following chart shows the historical data for providers that ranked among the top five in the ACCC broadband performance reports at different points in time.

Launtel wasn’t included before 2022 and is absent from the latest report for the first time since then. Leaptel was added in March 2025, and TPG joined in December 2024.

"After struggling with slow NBN speeds for months, I decided to switch to Exetel after seeing their consistent high results in the ACCC Broadband Report. Turns out they've topped the report for a reason - after switching, I was no longer buffering on video calls, and my internet speed test results were close to the advertised typical download speed."

Is the fastest NBN provider also the best?

Not necessarily. While having a fast and reliable connection will be a factor to consider when choosing an NBN plan, there are other things to factor in such as price, data limits, added extras and more.

You can check out our roundup of the best NBN plans to see which providers are making the cut.
