The ING Orange Everyday Youth account is a fee-free bank account for young Australians aged 15-17. Earn an ongoing variable 1.35% p.a. on your savings in a linked ING Savings Maximiser account. There are no deposit or withdrawal conditions in order to receive this interest rate.
Note that customers over 18 with an ING Savings Maximiser need to deposit $1,000 and make more than five debit transactions each month in order to earn this maximum rate, otherwise the standard rate applies.
Digital savings tools
This account offers ING's Everyday Round Up tool, enabling you to round up the value of everyday transactions to the closest $2 or $5 and have the difference automatically added to your savings.
ING also offers another set-and-forget savings tool called If This Then That (IFTTT) which allows customers to connect to a range of apps, such as calendar, Instagram or health tracking apps, to create savings triggers. This account is for young Australians aged 15-17 years. If you're above this age, take a look at the standard ING Orange Everyday transaction account instead which offers the same features.
How to apply
You can easily apply online in minutes. Make sure you meet the eligibility requirements and have the necessary documentation handy before starting your application.
- Age requirement. You must be 15-17 years of age to open an Orange Everyday Youth account from ING. If you're 18 or older, you'll receive a standard ING Orange Everyday account.
- Australian resident. Only Australian permanent residents or citizens with an Australian residential address can open this account.
- Your identifying documents. You'll need at least two forms of identification which ING will use to verify your identity electronically. This could include a driver's licence, passport, birth certificate or Medicare card.
- Your tax file number (TFN). ING needs this to ensure the bank withholds tax at the correct marginal rate for any interest earned.
- Mobile number and email. You need an active Australian mobile number and a email address to complete the application.
