This includes new for old replacement on vehicles less than two years old, as well as cover for towing costs, personal items and emergency accommodation. What excess will be charged?

The excess is the amount you must pay to contribute towards your claim. There are several excesses that may apply to your Beyond Bank policy:

    • Basic excess. This is the first amount payable on all claims and it may vary if you choose a higher excess in return for cheaper premiums or if the insurer decides to impose a higher excess due to risk-based underwriting criteria.
    • Age excess. You’ll need to pay the age excess when you lodge a claim for an incident that occurred when someone under the age of 25 was driving your car.
    • Undeclared young driver excess. This excess is payable if your vehicle was being driven by someone under 25 years of age who is not listed on your policy schedule.
    • Inexperienced driver excess. You will need to pay the inexperienced driver excess if you make a claim for an incident that occurred when your vehicle was being driven by someone 25 years or older who had not held their current licence for at least two continuous years.
    • Theft excess. You must pay this excess when you make a claim for theft or attempted theft.
    • Driver excess. The insurer may impose a special excess on a specific driver listed on your policy.
    • Unnamed driver excess. This $2,500 excess applies when you have chosen the named driver option and you make a claim for an incident that occurred when your car was being driven by someone not listed on your policy as a named driver.
    • Restricted driver excess. You will need to pay this $2,500 excess if you have chosen the restricted driver option and you lodge a claim for an incident that occurred when your car was being driven by someone under 25 years of age.

How to save on your Beyond Bank car insurance policy

There are several things you can do to reduce the cost of your Beyond Bank car insurance premium, including:

  • Choose a higher excess. If you’re willing to pay a higher excess you can enjoy a lower premium.
  • Buy online. You can access a discount of up to 10% if you buy comprehensive cover online.
  • Restrict drivers. You can lower your premiums by restricting cover to drivers 25 years of age and over.
  • Name drivers. You also have the option to restrict cover to drivers named in your policy.
  • Safe driver discount. If you don’t make any claims on your policy, you may also be eligible for a safe driver discount in addition to the no-claim bonus.

Making a claim

If you need to make a claim on your Beyond Bank car insurance policy, you can do so by contacting Allianz’s claims team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can make a claim in two ways:

  • By completing an online claims form. This is the most convenient way to lodge a claim and once your form has been submitted, you will be contacted by a claims consultant to guide you through the next steps.
