Zurich is an international company operating out of offices in every continent and employing more than 50,000 people. Zurich has two main business functions. One function is to provide insurance products and services for businesses.
Zurich is the 2nd biggest supplier of business and company insurance in the world. Zurich also provide life insurance and investment funds for individuals. Zurich give you access to up to 15 diversified investment portfolios and single asset class options. Zurich do not offer a default MySuper investment option, applications for the Zurich Superannuation Plan and Account Based Pension are only considered when they come from a financial adviser or broker.

Zurich Superannuation Plan
The Zurich Superannuation Plan is a flexible fund giving you control over how you make contributions, how you money is invested and your level of insurance within your super.
- Investment options. Zurich give you lots of different ways to invest your money, choose from up to 15 different investment options ranging from cash through to Global Shares. Zurich do not offer a default MySuper investment option. You must select an investment to have your application considered.

- Switch your investments. Zurich let you switch your choice of investment option any time you like via the My Zurich online account management tool. Your request takes effect at the end of each business day and there’s no fee for switching your investment options.
- Insurance. Zurich provide insurance cover to you when you join the Zurich Superannuation Plan for an additional period. You can tailor these covers to suit your specific needs, you’re eligible to apply for Death Cover, Total & Permanent Disablement Cover and Income Replacement Cover. Other features include: Premiums are deducted from your super balance each week or month, you can nominate a beneficiary when you open an account and your financial adviser or broker must assist you with your application for insurance cover.
- Contributions. You can make the following contributions to the Zurich Superannuation Plan. Employer superannuation guarantee, voluntary employer contributions, personal, spouse, self employed contributions, government co-contributions and rollover contributions from other funds.
- Account access. Log on to MyZurich to update your investment options and view your super balance.
- Fees. You’ll have to pay fees when you join a super fund, Zurich charge fees on both a stepped and tiered basis. Administration fees and investment fees are based on your account balance and your choice of investment options. Zurich do not charge an exit fee or switching fee.
What pension accounts does Zurich offer?
Zurich Account Based Pension
Open a Zurich Account Based Pension to receive a regular income from your super fund once you reach your preservation age. This account gives you a tax effective way to maintain your retirement lifestyle as well as access to Zurich’s investment options.
- Investment options. Choose from up to 15 different investment options to suit your risk profile. You can invest in one or a combination of the following diversified or single asset class investments.

- Minimum investment. You need to make an initial deposit of $20,000 or more to open this account.
- Payment frequency. The government sets limits about the minimum amount you must receive every years from your super fund in retirement; you can choose to get paid a pension from your super every month, quarter, half year or year.
- Fees. Administration fees are charged on a stepped basis and decrease as your account balance increases. Investment management costs also apply and vary based on your choice of investment. Refer to the product disclosure statement for a full list of fees and charges.
- Investment options. Choose from up to 15 different investment options to suit your risk profile. You can invest in one or a combination of the following diversified or single asset class investments.
How to make the most out of your application
Zurich will generally only accept applications to apply for one of their superannuation or retirement products if you’ve been referred by a third party such as a financial planner or a broker. If your employer allows you to choose your own superannuation fund, talk to your professional adviser about whether the Zurich Superannuation Plan is the right fund for you.
You must be an Australian resident to apply for a Zurich Superannuation Plan or Zurich Account Based Pension product. You can open an account based pension once you reach your preservation age and you have accumulated the minimum investment amount within your superannuation fund.
What happens after my application?
If your application to become a member of the Zurich Superannuation Plan is accepted, you have a 14 day cooling off period in which your contributions will be refunded minus any tax or admin costs.
