Our verdict: Konec Mobile provides affordable access to Telstra's network. It sets itself apart from other small providers via bundling discounts for Oppo phones and SIM plans for wearables.
Konec Mobile is a relatively new telco operating on Telstra's wholesale network that launched in late 2022. All Konec Mobile plans are prepaid, so there are no contracts or postpaid options.
The entry-level and mid-tier plans are only a few dollars and a few gigabytes apart, but the lowest plan only has 4G access. In terms of value, the data inclusions are slightly better than average across all 30-day plans.
There are also 3 long expiry plans available: 90 days, 180 days or 365 days. These are great for people who don't want the pressure of monthly recharges but you will need to ration your data more carefully.
All Konec Mobile plans include data banking capped at 500GB. This is on the lower end, with some telcos offering 1000GB or even unlimited data banking.
Overall, Konec Mobile's plans provide good value for money, especially if you like having access to Telstra's network or want to bundle with a cheap Oppo phone.
Pros
30-day expiry (instead of the standard 28) on month-to-month plans
Ability to bundle plans with discounted Oppo phones
Unlimited international calls and SMS to 15 countries
Get connected instantly via eSIM with compatible phones
Konec Mobile uses Telstra's wholesale network, which is smaller and less reliable than its full network.
With that said, it still provides coverage to around 98.8% of the Australian population. You can therefore expect to receive a reliable service in most populated areas.
Konec Mobile's 4G and 5G speeds are capped at 100Mbps and 150Mbps, respectively. This is notably slower than what some telcos offer, but for most users those speeds won't be an issue.
100Mbps is more than fast enough for all phone activities, including streaming.
What features and perks does Konec Mobile offer?
Konec Mobile sets itself apart by offering bundling discounts for Oppo phones and SIM plans for wearables. These options are pretty rare for smaller telcos. Here's a rundown of what you get:
Bundle with Oppo and save
If you need a new phone to go with your plan, Konec Mobile sells a range of discounted Oppo smartphones starting at $130. All phones are new and unlocked.
Unfortunately, you can only bundle a phone with Konec Mobile's 90-day and 365-day long expiry plans. This means you're stuck with the telco for a minimum of 3 months.
Nevertheless, it remains a good option for a kid's first phone plan (provided their heart isn't set on an iPhone.)
Data sharing
Konec Mobile customers can gift and receive up to 50% of their plan data. The minimum gift amount is 1GB.
If you are managing multiple kids' phone plans, this is a great option to have in your back pocket. Unfortunately, banked data cannot be shared though.
Unlimited standard international calls and SMS
All Konec Mobile plans include unlimited standard international calls and SMS to the following 15 locations: Bangladesh, Canada, China, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the UK and the USA.
This is a solid perk. Some budget telcos cap international calls to a set number of minutes, or don't provide any at all on entry-level plans.
You can also purchase 120 minutes of talk time to 42 additional destinations for $5.
Data banking
All Konec Mobile plans come with the same 500GB data banking cap which is below average. (Once your unused data reaches 500GB, it will remain fixed at this amount.)
On the plus side, you do not need to enable auto-recharge to bank your data which is a requirement from some telcos. You also have up to 48 hours to recharge your plan after it expires with no penalties to your data bank.
Wearables SIM plan
In addition to traditional prepaid plans, Konec Mobile also offers a range of Wearables SIM plans which are designed specifically for smartwatches and wearable devices.
You can choose between a 180-day and 365-day plan, with prices starting at $60 for 12GB. Unlimited standard calls and text within Australia are also included.
Both plans are 4G only, with download speeds are capped at 100Mbps. Data banking is not included on these plans.
Refer a friend discount
Konec Mobile will provide a $10 reward voucher for every customer you refer who signs up. (The new customer also gets $10 off via your referral link.)
The $10 voucher is deducted from your next recharge which you can manage through the Konec Mobile app. The maximum number of vouchers you can apply per billing cycle depends on the plan, ranging from 1 to 6. (For example, you can only apply for $10 off per recharge on the entry-level plan.)
Other noteworthy features include support for eSIMs for eligible phones, free shipping of physical SIM cards, VoLTE/Wi-Fi calling and access to the Konec Mobile app which includes data tracking and inbuilt customer support.
How good is Konec Mobile's customer service?
Konec Mobile does not feature in the most recent complaints data from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) or the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO).
Its customer service is based in the Philippines. We made several test calls and were always connected to a human within a few seconds.

Frequently asked questions
To cancel your Konec Mobile plan, you need to contact customer support directly. Alternatively, set recharge to manual and do not renew - your plan will be automatically cancelled at the end of the current billing cycle.
Yes. Your can choose the eSIM option during checkout and connect to your plan immediately without a physical card. Just be aware that you will need a compatible device for it to work.
Most phones released by Apple, Samsung and Google have been eSIM compatible since around 2019. You can check if your phone supports eSIMs by heading to the Mobile/SIM card manager settings.

Important information about this website
Finder makes money from featured partners, but editorial opinions are our own.
Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.

These mobile plans stack up extremely well for overall cost and data allowance over 12 months plus network coverage. You may also get a few bonus features attached to your plan.
7+
Great
These mobile plans are competitively priced and offer a decent amount of data. You might need to compromise just a little bit on some features.
5+
Standard
Usually these mobile plans are just okay for overall cost over 12 months and the amount of data you're getting in return. Network coverage and other features can be lacking.
0+
Basic
You can generally do better than what these mobile plans have to offer in terms of cost, data costs, network coverage and features. In short, they're poor value for money.
