  • Allianz is a reputable brand in claims Australia and internationally.
  • You can save up to 30% depending on your claims history.
  • You need to take care with your sum insured amount since there's no obvious protection from underinsurance.

What does Allianz Home Insurance cover?

You can get 3 different types of home insurance policies from Allianz: home building insurance, contents insurance and combined home and contents insurance. It also offers landlord insurance for those with investment properties.

An Allianz Home Insurance policy can cover you for these insured events and a bunch more.

Excess amounts vary from $500 up to $10,000. This way, you can choose an option that fits your needs. The cooling-off period for Allianz policies is 14 days, which is slightly below industry standard. This means that you have less time to cancel your policy if you change your mind.

Allianz is a general insurer, which means it backs all different types of insurance, such as home, car and travel insurance.

Here's a review of Allianz Home Insurance complaints

We looked at home insurance complaint data from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) between July 2020 and June 2021. The data breaks down different underwriters and compares their business size to the number of complaints processed.

When comparing insurers, keep in mind that insurers with a larger market share serve more customers, so can potentially get more complaints.

Here's an overview of how Allianz (Allianz Australia Insurance Limited) did:

  • The total number of complaints made against Allianz is actually reasonable, considering it's a very large firm. It even has a similar number of complaints compared to Hollard, which is a smaller firm.
  • Allianz was able to close the majority of its complaints, compared to the other firms. However, the majority of these complaints couldn't be resolved with its customers directly and had to be escalated by AFCA.

Here's the bottom line about Allianz Home Insurance

Allianz is a well-known insurance company that offers its customers a good level of customisation and access to discounts on its policies. Just be aware that Allianz doesn't offer an obvious safeguard against underinsurance. This means you'll need to take extra care when declaring your sum insured amount to make sure you're protected for everything you need.

Not sure yet? You can compare other home insurance brands side-by-side so that you end up with a policy you're happy with.

Hello we have a house in Moorina Qld Australia that we would like to insure. Our son is currently living there and the home was built around 1980 and is brick veneer. There is also an NBN tower on the property which the land is leased. The property is 9 acres. The tower is about 80 metres from the house and we require it to be covered under the legal liability. Can you do this, and how much?
