Like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 sees more of a refinement in design rather than a whole host of new features.

The big new design feature for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a larger cover display, capable of displaying information from a wide variety of widget choices. Where the original Z Flip made do with a poky 1.1-inch Super AMOLED display, Samsung has expanded this out to a slightly more accommodating 1.9-inch screen, with dual cameras embedded at the side to give a more distinct colour accent.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 gets the same toughness improvements seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with IPX8 water resistance and the "Armor Aluminum" frame to give it a greater degree of robustness.

You don't get the fancy under-display camera on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 when you do flip it open. Instead, there's a 10MP f/2.4 holepunch camera for your selfie needs, while the "external" cameras are dual 12MP shooters covering wide and ultra-wide angle needs.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3, like its predecessors sells on that compact form factor and the style note of having a phone that looks quite ordinary when unfolded, only to cut its size in half. Samsung is going to release the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in a wide array of colours.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 will sell in Cream, Green, Lavender and Phantom Black from regular retailers. Samsung reserves 3 colours – Gray, White and Pink – for online sales through Samsung's website only.

When will the Galaxy Z Flip 3 go on sale in Australia?

You can pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 3 from today with devices on store shelves from 10 September 2021.

Like the Z Fold 3, you can also score pre-order bonuses with the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Samsung itself offers a choice of redemption offers through its website for all pre-order buyers, with either a free pair of Galaxy Buds Live or a "Power Pack" consisting of an Aramid Case and Trio Wireless charger.

The carrier offers with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 are identical to those of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, so Telstra customers can snag a free TV, Optus customers can grab a free Watch 4 and Vodafone customers can get better trade-in values for their older handsets.

How much does the Galaxy Z Flip 3 cost in Australia?
